Do they tell you the sex?

Due for my 20 week scan on the 19th and of course I am hoping to find out the sex of my baby.

I understand the scan it is an anomaly scan and that some trusts don't reveal the scan.

I'm based in the North West, can anybody share with me their experiences?

TIA

Sorry it’s meant to say I know they don’t reveal the sex, not the scan!

I’m in Manchester and was asked if I wanted to know at the beginning of my scan I said no and the sonographer said she wouldn’t even look then :)

Lauren83 · 06/12/2018 18:59

I'm in central Manchester and they tell you there, also at hospitals in Stockport and Tameside I believe they do

I'm in Preston.....they didn't. Until i asked once they got all the measures they needed then they had a look but DC wasn't playing

SoyDora · 06/12/2018 19:44

Depends which hospital in the NW.

WooYa · 06/12/2018 19:52

It might depend on the sonographer too... I'm in Preston too and I got asked. I'd already had an earlier scan so I already knew but she said she'd double check for me.

CrabbyPatty · 06/12/2018 20:00

Just ask.... x

mortifiedmama · 06/12/2018 22:42

Depends. There's lots of different trusts in the north west. Some do, some don't.

I'm in Tameside and I asked my sonographer at the anomoly scan if she could see the sex, she responded with "yes, would you like to know?"

Lots of mentions of Tameside on here! Small world :)

Just to echo, I'm in Tameside and they definitely tell you (my friend is under them).

I'm under St Mary's in Manchester and they also tell you.

blackcat86 · 06/12/2018 23:53

They can tell you depending on baby's position and if they have time. If something comes up in the scan this will understandably take priority.

Lauren83 · 07/12/2018 06:38

Tameside doesn't usually get many mentions on here! I'm at St Marys too but I'm originally from 'Just passed Hartshead Pike and before you get to Greenfield'

JoggerBottom · 07/12/2018 10:06

Where I am they don't reveal the sex, but you can ask and they will look. I think it is pretty much expected that it will get asked though!

I also live in Tameside but I’m under Wythenshawe Hospital. What a small world
