Rash on stomach

Hi all,

I’m 17+3 and have developed a red, bumpy rash on my stomach. It’s quite itchy too!

It’s just on my stomach area- which makes me think it’s a reaction to the stretch mark creams I started using on Monday..a combo of Palmers Tummy Butter during the day and Bio oil at night. The time frame also would make sense.

However, being a worrier, I am worried despite what my rational side says! Do you think I should phone midwife or doctor? To be honest though, I’ve tried to call my midwife before and not got through and my doctors are always full and can’t see me for a few days when I ring so I don’t see how either of these options would reassure me.

Any advice much appreciated, thank you.

It could be PUPPs rash I had it when pregnant all over my bump to start with and then it spread all over my legs and arms. It was so itchy it drove me to distraction.

I used camomile lotion to ease the itch and started washing with pine tar soap which helped. I then swapped my moisturizer to E45.

Show the rash to your GP or midwife. If it is PUPPs there's no cure except delivering the baby unfortunately.

Also just to point out it's not dangerous just a pain in the arse so don't worry if you do have it Grin

Oh no, I hope not as obviously far too early to even think about delivering baby!! Pleased if it is PUPPs though, it isn’t harmful to baby- that’s my main concern.

Thank you- I’ll attempt to get a GP appointment or see my midwife.

No it doesn't effect the baby at all so don't worry. It also might not be PUPPs so go to your GP and see what they say! My midwife didn't know what PUPPs was Hmm

I had PEP, polymorphic eruption of pregnancy, I think similar to PUPP - horribly itchy and I had a rare one that got much worse after birth and was over most of my body, I was on steroids for some time after birth! 2nd pregnancy it began again and I bought Grandpa's Old Pine Tar soap from Amazon and it cleared it up, totally amazing. Definitely get checked out properly but maybe try the soap if it is PEP or PUPP, the reviews on Amazon are great!
