Am I wrong to want privacy?

So here it goes!! My MIL has been in a new relationship with her partner since September but have been friends for years. They are engaged and my MIL is immigrating to live with her! yay for romance I'm booked in for a section and my MIL wants her new partner to be there with her after the surgery to meet the baby. I'm just a bit mad as I've already told family and friends that I don't want visitors until the baby is home as I want to try breast feeding and settle into my role as a new first time mum! My OH and I agreed that parents and aunties will be able to come see baby after I am back up from recovery, changed into clean pjs and settled. I just feel a bit strange having this random person that we have met once and only known since September at such an intimate time in our lives? My OH agrees but we don't know if we are being OTT or have a right to want privacy?

No you're not. Do what is best for you and your other half.

Sorry meant to add, of course you have a right to privacy! Sounds like mother in law needs some boundaries.

I would just say you are happy for immediate family to come and meet baby at the hospital but everyone else is welcome to visit once you are home and settled. You can’t have crowds of people visiting anyway.

Your baby your rules. You need to meet your baby and come to terms with being a mum, all the emotions from overflowing joy to sheer terror of the responsibility, the miracle of birth, hormones, it’s intense and beautifully overwhelming and it’s so important that you experience that in your own comfort and space. Then you can take the world on, including overbearing “I’m importants” the hospital will be great at ring fencing you to keep anyone you don’t want near out. Congratulations and stick to your guns

I totally understand that this woman is going to be in our babies life hopefully "forever" but they have only been dating since September and have only met each other once. I just don't want someone I don't know being in the room at such a memorable and important time in our lives

I don't think you will want anybody other than your DH at the hospital immediately after surgery, I certainly didn't,no matter how close they are. I was happy to have visitors the next day, when I felt somewhat human again.

Stick to your guns, I compromised and said they could come and collect us from the hospital but I didn’t have any visitors apart from OH and I won’t be this time either. It’s all just a blur of figuring out feeding and getting well again to go home you don’t need stress.
