I'm 5 weeks and have woken to quite a bit of brown discharge this morning, feeling dizzy and unwell. I was really ill with a tummy bug over the weekend with sickness and diarrhoea so I was kind of expecting this, but still upset. Just wanted to share it somewhere.

Hello Sooty,
If you look back on here, and people will be along shortly to say too, spotting doesnt always mean the worst! People have had huge clots at this stage and still been okay.
It might not be, but please keep the faith. You never know.

It can be normal hun, keep an eye on it and if it gets worse ring up the hospital. Some bleeding or discharge can happen during implantation of the egg. Drink plenty of water and monitor your discharge. Hope ur ok. X

Thank you, I guess I'm being pessimistic as I've miscarried before and this is how it started last time. Fingers crossed this one sticks!

Brown is old blood.. maybe left over implantation bleed..

Ozziewozzie · 04/12/2018 11:28

Hi Op,
Brown blood is old. Try and rest as much as you can (easier said than done)
I had significant bright red bleeding with huge clots literally pouring out at 9 weeks yet my daughter was born perfectly healthy. Bleeding is a warning sign but it can also be absokutely ok. Your uterus will be stretching and so sometimes blood vessels can bleed.

Thank you. Just got back from GP and looks like discharge has stopped for now and cervix is closed, so will have to wait and see.

I now have red spotting and period like pains. Scan booked for Monday but I think this little one is already lost. Too sad.

I know it’s Sunday night, but Monday must seem such a long way away for you right now. I so hope everything is ok for you tomorrow. Take someone with you as sometimes it can be a long wait and you’ll really appreciate the company. X

SootySweepIt · 12/12/2018 16:22

Thanks OzzieWozzie, the scan was inconclusive so going back on Friday for another one. Fingers crossed I get some answers xx
