Pre-eclampsia, 29 weeks

Has anyone been diagnosed with preeclampsia at 29 weeks and managed to hold on to baby until further along in the pregnancy?

I'm currently hospitalised and being treated for Pre-E. I have been given steroids in preparation for possible delivery over the next few days or week, though I have been told this is more precautionary than any solid plans to deliver at this moment.

I am absolutely terrified of what may come.
I have a DD, 10 whose Christmas will be about visiting her sister in NICU if she pulls through or visiting me in hospital. I am sick at the thought of it.

I am hoping today I get a more sure answer from the doctors.

Is preeclampsia always a case of delivering very quickly?

If they decide to put me on bed rest until I'm further along will it mean I miss Christmas with my family?

My BP has come down very well with the help of medication (though the nurses assistant has been taking my BP overnight and putting the cuff on my elbow instead of top of my arm, so not sure if it's accuracy). Is this likely to persuade docs to allow me to continue longer with the pregnancy?

Sorry for all the questions. My mind is racing and I'm not getting clear answers from medical staff, so other people's experiences would be appreciated.

Hi Pepper, I had pre eclampsia with my son and in my experience it was an urgent delivery but my sil had it and delivered at full term so it honestly depends.
I'd suggest looking on Facebook for pre eclampsia mums UK and parents of preemies uk, they are amazing and warn groups who can answer your questions and give you support. They really helped me and I wish I'd known about them before having my son.
Best of luck xx

I developed PE at 30 weeks and was induced 1 week before my due date. Hope everything goes well for you Flowers
