Were your pregnancy symptoms different with each pregnancy you had?

Currently 7 weeks pregnant with my second and have found my symptoms different this time around. First time had classic morning sickness by now, headaches, tiredness etc, this time I've just been tired and had sore boobs, no sickness which is worrying me. Did your pregnancy symptoms differ from each pregnancy you had? Thanks

No, my pregnancies were remarkably similar, including the points at which I was admitted to hospital with HG. 1 boy, 1 girl.0

IamPickleRick · 01/12/2018 23:14

Yes. First one, spd and preeclampsia, felt like crap, couldn’t eat cheese without throwing up. Second one, hernia, no spd and felt fine except very tired, ate everything!
Third one, spd, back ache, sickness.

Heartburn is the only symptom I had with all three.

CajunShrimp · 01/12/2018 23:15

Yes. First one terrible sickness and headaches. Second one mild sickness and terrible SPD. Both dc the same sex.

8DaysAWeek · 02/12/2018 01:56

Yes. Both bad sickness, worst second time round with hyperemesis. First symptom with DC1 was big boobs and sensitive nipples; big boobs didn't come until week 16 with this one. Have extremely heightened smell which I didn't have with my first. Sweet tooth with DC1; savoury with this one. Both boys, I'll add!

DramaAlpaca · 02/12/2018 01:59

Yes, all three were very different, all resulted in my gorgeous boys.

BertramKibbler · 02/12/2018 02:01

Yes, sadly the pregnancy in which my symptoms were “strongest” resulted in a MMC.

Actually my twin pregnancy was easier in the first trimester than my successful Singleton pregnancy

Scottishmum12 · 03/12/2018 00:06

@betramkibbler really sorry to hear that, must of been difficult especially have such strong symptoms.

Thanks for all the comments ladies. Interesting to hear how they differ or not. Got my first scan in January so going to enjoy the festive season and it will be here in no time.

The reason I did a pregnancy test is I caught sight of myself in the mirror, walking like a pregnant woman with my hand on my back, as I had back-ache. I also hadn't had a period (not unusual) in a while, so just took one for the craic almost.
The other thing I had noticed was prior to the pregnancy test, I was absolutely famished on a constant basis (I mean, ordering a curry every evening famished).
During the first 3 months I slept a lot (again unusual for me as I'm insomniac sometimes and wouldn't normally sleep more than 6 hours), so going to bed at 7pm and falling asleep and not waking until 7am the next morning.
I was between 4 and 5 weeks pregnant when I found out, so it was a very long pregnancy!
The second trimester nothing much really.
Third trimester, sugar cravings (was duly banned from sugar by midwife as was at risk of diabetes), sausage sandwiches, pasta, and cornflakes. And again the constant sleeping.

I probably had a very easy pregnancy as they go, but the birth was traumatic and was touch and go.

I've earned my stripes, but never would do it again. I was a single mother.

Zulor · 03/12/2018 00:17

Oh yes, reading back, I was nearly constantly taking paracetamol for headache, but mainly in the third trimester I think.
Oh and heartburn. Again, third trimester.

Zulor · 03/12/2018 00:21

Sorry, I've just re-read your post and you're looking for comparisons between pregnancies Blush

GreenDill · 03/12/2018 00:24

Each of my pregnancies have been different! Ive never really suffered from morning sickness at all, but usually very fatigued (fell asleep in the staff room whilst making toast for a patient in previous pregnancy Blush ), boobs really swollen and sore and on/off nausea etc. This pregnancy I’ve literally had nausea that lasted 2 days and a few spots. Almost 12 weeks and everything is going well. Really do believe that every pregnancy can be different. X

GreenDill · 03/12/2018 00:25

Also second what @bertramkibbler said, the pregnancy I had my strongest symptoms in ended in a MMC x

mortifiedmama · 03/12/2018 06:05

Yes, DS I had mild nausea, was sick 2 or 3 times. Bad SPD and PGP. Thus one I was much more sick, no SPD or PGP but worse heartburn.

The pregnancy I was worst in also ended in miscarriage.

OutPinked · 03/12/2018 10:15

I had zero symptoms with my DD’s at all. Wouldn’t have known I was pregnant if it weren’t for the missed periods. The only real symptom I had was peeing every two seconds and being knackered during the final trimester.

With my DS’s though... total different story. All day nausea/vomiting throughout the first trimester and for a substantial portion of the second. Literally had every symptom in the book- bad skin during the first trimester, peeing constantly from start to finish, back ache, mood swings etc. I really struggle to carry boys Grin.

Lookingforadvice123 · 03/12/2018 10:19

Yes and no; they've been the same but much stronger on my second - sickness started much earlier, was much worse and went on for much longer. First symptom on both was sore boobs though, and by the third trimester I've got the same rib pain as in my first pregnancy. Both DC boys.

I know two people who've suffered HG, and both still suffered it with pregnancies that ended in MC, so I wouldn't read too much in to it. Similarly I know a couple of people who "just didn't feel pregnant" when compared to earlier pregnancies, and they ended in MC. I think it massively varies.

Coco224 · 03/12/2018 10:48

Number 1 (boy) and 2 (girl) I had very similar pregnancies - no sickness or major problems. I was more uncomfortable towards the end of pregnancy 2 (but probably as I had a baby under 1 to carry around!)
This time around I’m 23 weeks and for the first 14 weeks I felt awful. Since then I’ve felt really good so far, will see what I say in 6 or so weeks!

SilverbytheSea · 03/12/2018 10:55

1 - strong sickness (mc 7 weeks)
2 - hyperemisis throughout, sciatica and spd in third trimester
3 - sore boobs, some food aversions, otherwise felt really well (mc 16 weeks)
4 - other than mild nausea, nothing much early on, sciatica started at 16 weeks and got awful piles now at 23 weeks 😬

Each one

SilverbytheSea · 03/12/2018 10:56

Oops clicked too early there!

Each one incredibly different!
Oh forgot the hairy belly with no 2 and this one! Mil seems to think it’s because they are boys 😂

Scottishmum12 · 03/12/2018 11:07

Nope hairy belly happened to me with my first and shes a girl lol, ended up shaving but made it much worse so I know that now lol
