It’s only actually helpful to bring on contractions when you’re actually already in labour

Midwife advised me to do this to kick labour off and to collect colostrum. I tried it once and it brought on some really nasty contractions, actually made me feel a bit sick so I stopped! So in answer to your question yes it probably works and I just did hand stimulation in the shower.

I did this several times (with pump) to try to start labour. Didn't work in the slightest for me!

Don't do it! I did it with my first and was in labour for 4 days. It was hell. My second I let nature take its course and my waters broke, 12 hours later I had a huge headed baby boy after a relatively easy labour.
