Two left feet - any better if you visit in person?

Hi everyone - ducking in and out of threads, I have gleaned that these guys have a dire reputation. Read the watchdog report too. Now my question is this? If you visit their showroom and buy everything there and then and take it away with you - does it alleviate the problems?
Or would you advise that i just steer clear completely?

Sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about but out of pure curiosity I thought I'd bump this!

I went to two left feet in person (and ordered something, but it had to be delivered). When I got there after the time it was supposed to open, you could get into the warehouse, but there were no staff around. I was tempted to wander off with things, but didn't in the end .

As the puschair I wanted wasn't in stock, we ordered it and then began the problems of failed delivery . In the end, DH went and picked it up from their warehouse, which would have been the sensible thing to do in the first place, but I was being pregnant and trusting .

So, I would say unless you know the item is in stock, don't bother .

Hey PLP -two left feet are internet retailers (have a huge showroom also) - their prices are ridiculous - we can basically save £300 if we buy cot/ changing unit/ travel system and glider chair from them over places in London. However they have a dire reputation for delivery/ customer service. am wondering if we go there in person (showroom is en route to my parents, so not out of the way) - has anyone dealt with them face to face?

Oh I discovered the only way to get through to them on the phone was to press the sales option and then rant loudly at someone . Emailing had no effect.

holsnovell · 22/06/2007 20:04

ive been in person a few times and funnily enough never brought anything! if you find a staff member well done! whether they can help or not is another matter!

dal21 · 22/06/2007 20:13

Hmmm sounds as though is not worth the hassle. Thanks guys.

Oh arse - I have just ordered a handysitt from them as blooming marv let me down. It was the cheapest by a long shot. Not expecting it until next week but I wish I'd investigated them a bit first - had never heard of them before. we shall see.

MuffinMclay · 22/06/2007 20:18

They're not too bad if they have something in stock and you can take it away there and then. Mind you, you'll wait ages to speak to a member of staff and then an eternity for them to go and get the item.

Don't order anything for later collection/delivery. You'll be waiting until the next millenium, whatever they promise you. Not worth the hassle IMO.

It all makes sense now! So sorry to be dim but I'm pg, blonde and I have irish blood - will you forgive me!?

I'm off to see if they have a warehouse close to me now!

Thankyoooooo!!!

xx

Does anyone have experience of buying stuff online from them?

BetsyBoop · 23/06/2007 09:24

Yes Megalegs & delivery took so long I will never use them again, too much hassle...

A couple of friends have also ordered online & had the same problem, so it's isn't just me (and there are many threads on MN about them too...

As Idris says the only way to get through to them is to press the sales button & rant until someone will talk to you about your delivery, all email is completely ignored....

MegaLegs · 23/06/2007 09:51

Oh bugger! I am desperate for the seat as I chucked out his highchair as it was rank!! So having to sit him on my lap or floor which is far from ideal.

Well I only ordered it on Thurs so I'm not panicking yet. Will check out some other threads.

MuffinMclay · 23/06/2007 19:14

megalegs - yes. Ds's pushchair/travel system was ordered online. It was supposed to take 10-14 days, but took 6 weeks (just in the nick of time), and there were some bits missing (raincover, footmuff, something else - can't remember what). Took me another 6 months to get those, and only then because I went along to the warehouse at peak time on a Sunday and made a scene (joining a long queue of people doing the same).

littone · 24/06/2007 13:06

My experience of them was great. Went up to their shop as seemed to be one of the few places that stocked the travel system I wanted to look at. Placed order whilst there. Arrived within the stated delivery time and even remembered to call as requested to tell us it was being despatched. Checked when it arrived - all parts present and correct. Maybe I was just lucky ?

Hulababy · 24/06/2007 13:14

Only used them online and never again. Horrendous. Have heard negative stuff about them even when shopping direct at the warehouse too.

Hulababy · 24/06/2007 13:17

My item - car seat - was apparantly in stock. But about 6 weeks later it still hadn't turned up, despite several emails, referrals to Watchdog and Trading Standards, and phone calls. They take the money out of your account the very same day you order, regardless of whether they can meet your order. Then their customer service is dire - there basically isn't any! I have threads on here about that time, nightmare. Took ages to get my refund - and only then because I contacted the MD direct, after a lot of stuff in the media about them.
