Bleeding at 24 weeks

Hi all, need advice or any similar stories, I’m scared.
I’m 24+1, had a flu bug but back at work today feeling better. I’ve been having period type cramps in my front and back for a couple of hours, went to the toilet and there’s a fair bit of watery discharge in my pants with bits of brown blood.
I rang the community midwife who said it sounds like thrush and to ask my docs for a pessary prescription?! This doesn’t feel at all like thrush to me so I rang the emergency number for urgent pregnancy concerns. She said I need to rest with feet up and call back if the discharge gets more frequent or if I bleed more/pain gets worse.
Is this common for 24 weeks? I haven’t had any bleeding in my pregnancy yet. I can’t shake off the feeling that something is wrong. Anyone had any similar experiences? X

Please go and get checked out

costacoffeecup · 30/11/2018 14:13

Hmm. I agree it sounds like something that should be checked but two midwives have apparently not thought it needed to be checked. So not sure how op is going to manage it. Maybe rest up for a few hours and see how it goes as the second midwife advised?

Lightsong · 30/11/2018 14:14

I really think you need to call back and insist on being seen today

Gobletoffire · 30/11/2018 14:16

I wanted to get it checked that’s why I rang the pregnancy assessment unit at the hospital I’ll be giving birth at but unless symptoms worsen then they won’t see me.

Omg check my thread out im 24 weeks too and have same symptoms pressure and cramps in front and back pressure in pelvis they thought was a uti turns out its not but they don't know whats causing it.. I've to go back to be seen this afternoon at drs i would just phone back up and tell them it doesn't feel right I've had this fluey bug too but the cramps have been there about a week x

OutPinked · 30/11/2018 15:16

Lie if you have to, say the symptoms have worsened. That needs checking out, don’t give in until they agree to. I have experience of midwives downplaying brown spotting as something and nothing and it wasn’t for me, I had miscarried.

Gobletoffire · 30/11/2018 15:16

@Courtneybrown - I hope they find the cause of it for you. I haven’t had any more bleeding but still got the cramps. If it doesn’t improve soon then I’m ringing them back and insisting they see me. X

Ok im just back from drs had a lovely dr this time ... can i ask if you know the way your placenta is my dr seems to think it's because my placenta is anterior and she hasn't got barely any space to move she's currently bunched up at the bottom of my stomach basically right on my bladder could be cause of back pain and pinching cramping x

Gobletoffire · 30/11/2018 16:59

@Courtneybrown yes my placenta is anterior as well! Glad you had a nice doctor. I’ve had no more blood, still slight cramping but could just be growing twinges and can still feel baby moving. I know that my emergency antenatal unit is open 24/7 so going to monitor it for a couple of hours at home and see where to go from there x

Yeah she said ive just to monitor movements , but I'm starting to think she could be right but obviously you've had bleeding I've not had bleeding in weeks so i would err on the side of caution if any more bleeding just go straight up to er ! Xx

Gobletoffire · 30/11/2018 17:15

I will. Ive just got a bit of normal creamy discharge now and I can still feel him moving so I’m keeping everything crossed that all is ok but if anything changes again I’m going straight there rather than faffing around and phoning. Have you felt much movement with your placenta being anterior? X

Yeah i would too hun I've started feeling her move alot more now than i did at 22 weeks which was getting me concerned since this is my 4th pregnany still not as much as my previous Pregnancys though... i drink a coffee if ive not felt her to get her squirming xxx

I bled at 24 weeks a bright red fish. Scared the crap out of me, but all was fine!

Gobletoffire · 30/11/2018 19:46

@greathat thank you that’s reassuring, I’m keeping everything crossed that he’ll carry on cooking nicely in there x
