..... Dawn was in labour and kept farting. Apparently this is a sign of labour but i've never heard of this. Is it true? I dont recall have the farts with DS1, although TBH, i probably wouldn't have taken much notice anyway!

blimey- dh must be in labour permanently then!

seriously, i didn't realise wind was a sign, squits is though as its the body's natural clear out!

Sparkler · 22/06/2007 16:06

pmsl . I didn't know whether or not to click on this thread. I love Eastenders but haven't watched the last three yet. Still on Sky Planner for me to see. I didn't want to see any spoilers. Glad I did click though because you've made me LOL.
I don't remember having the farts in labour but like you say if I had it would have been the least of my problems.

RGPargy · 22/06/2007 16:09

hahaha @ nearlythere and Sparkler

I did laugh when she farted, and then kept going on about it!

Was I the only one who kept yelling at the tv "squat girl, it'll make it so much easier!"??

I'd better not go on about it any more, don't want to ruin it for sparkler!

indiasmum · 22/06/2007 16:15

LOL! i thought she was hilarious in labour! i do remember farting quite al ot when i was pushing and was ssooooo scared i was pooing myself, just kept screaming even louder to drown out the fart noises!!!

RGPargy · 22/06/2007 16:16

hahahaha @ indiasmum!! I tried the screaming thing too when i was in labour but the MW just told me to be quiet and put that energy into a push instead!!

I thought it was funny when she said 'everyone keeps looking at my twinkle and I don't even know them!'
It was the funniest episode in ages (makes a change for Enders!).

Yeah i've kinda lost track a bit of what's been happening in 'Stenders lately. All this Stella and Ben businss is getting tedious now. Everyone knows Phil would never go for someone like her!!

I wasn't aware that breaking wind was a side effect of labour either!

kittenbaby · 22/06/2007 18:26

lol
at one min dawns 3cm dilated then 10mins later she just pushes the baby out
it comes out spotless all wrapped up in a white blanket !!lol
im quite enjoying this storyline weve been pregnant at the same time lol
when may turned up at the end i was on no !! dh was like oh god its only eastenders you know lol

MrsMar · 22/06/2007 18:57

kittenbaby, I laughed at the clean baby too, not even an tiny effort made to make her look newborn. I had to explain to dh about vernix and blood and bits covering babies when they're born. I think he's in for such a shock in three months

kittenbaby · 22/06/2007 19:06

lol yeah i had to explain that too
and that also they can look a bit battered for a few days xx

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 19:10

I cried

but I'm due next week, that's my excuse!

MrsMar · 22/06/2007 19:36

awww bless ya foxy! I saw a news report the other day about the state of midwifery services, so not a happy story, but there was footage of a woman who'd obviously just given birth, she was laughing and crying at the same time, really overwhelmed and happy. I burst in to tears watching that! happy tears though... sniff!

kittenbaby · 22/06/2007 19:45

i cried a bit 2 lol im due in 2 weeks but i think babys coming b4 that xx

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 22/06/2007 19:49

at the hosp. last week for my 12 wk scan & saw a woman wheeled past gazing bewildered & adoring at her newborn with stunned bloke trailing behind...put a big smile on my face.

ds was clean & dressed (& heavily sedated)first time I held him because I had every sedative inluding GA before he came into the world..I only have the hospitals word for it that he's mine but he's lovely so I'm not giving him back!

Well I love Eastenders but as always in soaps, it was quite unrealistic. I don't know the about getting the farts etc. (althought I did poo myself when I was pushing having DS); but I did notice that the nurse managed to do an internal in a couple of seconds without Dawn even dropping her knees properly! And the baby coming out already wrapped up was good too. Makes me wonder if anybody on set has ever had a baby before - surely they would have said something! LOL

RGPargy · 22/06/2007 19:56

LOL @ FioFio. So blunt and to the point.

I did notice that they left the cord attached on Eastenders tho, which considering the baby was sparkly clean etc, I did wonder why they bothered lol.
