I reallllyyyyy want to breastfeed but my boobs havent gotten any bigger?
Do the two go hand in hand or am I just presuming that..
Dont get me wrong my nips have gotten darker (im very pale and had very light pink nips which are now, i guess, light brown?)
Im just worried because they havent grown it might not happen.

Theres a girl at work whos also pregnant but only 17 weeks(im 30+3) and shes gone from a C cup to an E in like 3 weeks haha(im more jealous of that with my c cup!!)

Doesn't make a single bit of difference! Mine haven't grown at all and have been breastfeeding successfully for nearly 8 months!

SoyDora · 29/11/2018 20:54

Absolutely no link. I’m on my third pregnancy, breastfed my first two successfully and my breasts didn’t change size at all (either while pregnant or while feeding). They haven’t changed size this time either and I fully intent to BF again.

mortifiedmama · 29/11/2018 20:55

No difference. My boobs were tiny. They did grow when my milk came in but not much and I had loads of milk.

HayCaramba · 29/11/2018 20:55

Mine didn’t really get any bigger until my milk came in a few days after the birth and I’ve breast fed both my DCs with no problems.

chloechloe · 30/11/2018 06:17

Mine never got bigger during any of my 3 pregnancies (good job really as I’m a DD!).

They got temporarily bigger when my milk came in but then went back to their previous size within a day or so.

WerewolfNumber1 · 30/11/2018 06:24

Makes no difference at all, don’t worry.

Mine only got bigger when my milk came in, 2 days after the baby was born.

Redskyandrainbows67 · 30/11/2018 06:26

You don’t store the milk in your boobs Grin!!
It doesn’t matter how big they are - the boobs MAKE milk not store it. They make on demand too. Some tiny bit is made and stored when you have a ‘let down’ but then as baby starts the feed your body is producing as it goes during the feed.
If you want to breastfeed most important thing is to get help at every feed for first 3/4 days. It’s a skill and needs to be taught and learnt for both baby and mum.

HopeGarden · 30/11/2018 06:42

My breasts didn’t get any bigger during pregnancy, and I’ve breastfed 2 babies past 2 years old.

Seconding the point about asking for help though, and I’d also suggest that you find details about any local breastfeeding support in advance. It’s a skill that doesn’t automatically come naturally to every baby.

AmyDowdensLeftLeftShoe · 30/11/2018 07:21

Even if they do get bigger they can decrease in size quite quickly after you have given birth. Doesn't mean you can't breastfeed and won't leak.

MagicalCreatures · 30/11/2018 07:59

So happy to read this thread. I’m the same OP.
I really want to try and breastfeed and was getting abit worried. I’m a C cup and mine haven’t changed at all. I’m due in 4 weeks x

SilverBirchTree · 30/11/2018 08:04

Breast size has nothing to do with milk supply. Milk doesn't come in properly until after the birth.

captainshortie · 30/11/2018 12:33

Fabulous!! I thought I was being silly, however just wanted to check lol!
Thanks ladies :)

captainshortie ask away. I really believe that the key to successful breastfeeding is knowledge - knowledge of what's normal, knowledge of what to expect and how to tackle common issues. Very few people have this knowledge these days, so arm yourself before you start!

smellsofelderberries · 30/11/2018 13:14

Not a jot of difference! Mine didn't change and I've been breastfeeding for over two years.

OutPinked · 30/11/2018 15:25

They usually grow suddenly when your milk comes in postpartum. Mine grew a bit in pregnancy but suddenly went up two cup sizes once my milk came in three days postpartum Grin.

Thiswayorthatway · 30/11/2018 15:35

I have tiny boobs but had loads of milk!

TooMinty · 30/11/2018 15:50

The only problem you will have is that all the diagrams and photos showing different breastfeeding positions assume that mums all have huge boobs. So you will just have to figure out what position works for you. You'll be fine though, good luck Thanks

Yes! I could not feed lying down without smothering my baby!

TooMinty · 30/11/2018 17:17

I'm sure my midwife taught me some twee rhyme like "tummy to mummy and nose to nipple" for positioning 😂

Racecardriver · 30/11/2018 17:19

Mine went up a cup size overnight when my milk came in. Just pray yours don’t get too big. An E cup is the unofficial threshold for when back pain arises and Brad get ugly.

SoyDora · 30/11/2018 17:22

I’m a 28J and never had any back pain!

Jent13c · 30/11/2018 17:23

I had 0 breast changes during pregnancy, no darkening nipples, no sore boobs, no increase in size. Fed until 17 Months.
Your milk will come in on day 3ish and you'll look like Pamela Anderson for a few days but it does settle eventually.

SheSellSeaShells · 30/11/2018 17:27

nope - mine are A cups and they never got any bigger until my milk came in after the birth. and they only went up a size anyway (sobs).

BuffaloCauliflower · 30/11/2018 17:28

@Racecardriver what?! An E isn’t even very big. I’m a 32E and I’d say my boobs are pretty average.

Racecardriver · 30/11/2018 18:48

@buffalo I know, mine were that size when I was breastfeeding. Annecdotally everyone I knew who grew to an e cup started complain of back pain and none of the nice lingerie brands do bras above a dd.
