4 weeks pregnant - self referral to hospital

Hello,
I found out a few days ago that I’m pregnant with my first child. It’s very exciting but also very confusing! I called my doctors who said they don’t need to see me, just to self refer to the hospital. It can take 14 working days until I receive a letter with an appointment. Is this a normal amount of time before seeing someone?
I just feel a bit lost and confused!

Congratulations! It's a bit of a waiting game to start. You'll probably have a booking appointment with a midwife around 8-10 weeks, and a scan around 12 weeks. In the meantime, take folic acid and vitamin d if you're not already, and read the NHS guidance for foods to avoid etc.

It’s been usual in all of my pregnancies for the first appointment to be at eight weeks and to be with the midwife. Then there is a scan at 12 weeks and appointments pick up speed after that.

Thank you both! It’s a funny thing really, only my husband and I know. I really want to talk to my mum about it but we’ve decided to wait until Christmas. It’s so exciting but a bit lonely at the same time xx

Congratulations!
Usually nothing happens until your around 8/9 weeks pregnant, it's a waiting game until then, you'll see the midwife and then have a scan around 12 weeks pregnant

Yes, I first saw someone at 9/10 weeks with all of mine.
Congratulations!

Thank you all! Knowing when to expect an appointment has helped a lot. X
