Have I wet myself... or??? (TMI)

Slightly embarrassing but here goes...

Walking to work this morning I felt a sensation and knew something had happened. I was that busy when I got to work that I didn't really think anything of it, but when I've popped to the loo there is definitely a wet patch that goes through to my tights. My first thought is that I've wet myself (nearly 34 weeks so every chance) but it doesn't really smell of anything and is clear...

Could this be my waters or am I just making excuses for the fact that yes, I have wet myself on the way to work? Blush

It can be really hard to tell.
Waters leaking can have a particular smell, almost like diluted bleach, not like see.
If there's no smell at all, kind of hard to say.

But if it is waters leaking, it would be wise to get baby checked out. I know it's a fact, and maybe for nothing, but, and it's a big but, anything changes in pregnancy, it could be a sign of something happening for your baby.
Ring midwife, get checked out.
Better safe than sorry.

Bloody autocorrect!
Wee , not see
Faff, not fact.

Better to have a fuss over nothing, than not enough fuss over something.

My waters went in the birthing pool but I’ve lambed plenty of sheep and calved plenty of cows to know that waters have quite a clinical, clean smell.

Maybe get in touch with your MW, they’ll perhaps ask you to come in to be examined. Are you having any tightenings in your back and/or stomach? Any unusual pain?

Celebelly · 29/11/2018 10:46

I'd call MW. Better to get it checked than not. If you have a pad or something with you, put it on now if and then if they ask you to attend an appointment, they can test whether it's amniotic fluid or not.

Thank you all for replying so quickly!

I am having Braxton Hicks but have had them quite frequently throughout pregnancy, I actually just returned to work yesterday after being signed off for 2 weeks due to stress increases Braxton Hicks.

They have definitely picked up since yesterday but whether that's work stress or not I don't know Confused

Now you say it, it does smell more clinical/clean. Looks like I need to call the midwife Blush Thank you x

It’s probably discharge.

I went in about 3 times with my twin pregnancy because my underwear was so wet I was sure my waters must have gone. TMI but it would literally come out in mini gushes and it definitely wasn’t urine.

Call them and get checked but don’t panic!

When my waters went it felt like I’d wet myself but with a gush of fluid rather than a normal wee and it soaked right through my knickers. I kept having more gushes of fluid every time I stood up, had to hold a towell between my legs just to walk to the bedrom and get pads. It had a slightly pink tinge with some lumps of bloody mucus and a distinct smell.

MrsStrowman · 29/11/2018 11:41

I had a gush this morning, followed by pinkish discharge had a hospital appointment anyway so told the consultant, she's sent me straight up to the maternity ward to be tested and scanned as she said it sounds like my waters have gone. I'm 37 weeks though

littlebug19 · 29/11/2018 18:54

Just to update, I was asked to go in to maternity assessment and popped on the monitor for an hour. Baby was very fidgety but he's okay, monitor picking up 4 tightenings every 10 minutes but as they're not painful they're not too worried. No sign that it was my waters that broke so possibly discharge Blush

Baby is however 3/5 engaged so just got to see what the next few weeks bring. Fingers crossed he stays in there a bit longer. Will we make it to the 12th of January? Time will tell Grin

Thank you all for replying this morning xx
