Fluey type bug

I know I probably sound a bit over dramatic but I’ve caught a bad cold bug, except it feels a million times worse than a cold and this evening I’ve become pretty much bedbound. I’m feverish and my whole body is aching (had the flu jab a few weeks ago!). I had my 24 week midwife appointment earlier and told her I was starting to feel very poorly and she told me to keep on top of fluids and take paracetamol etc, but I wish I had asked if this will harm baby at all? I feel a lot worse now than I did this morning. I feel so worried that me being so poorly will be affecting baby in some way :(

Also does anyone have any advice on how to feel better? I can’t really miss work because we are so busy at the moment, and this isn’t a pregnancy related illness so it’ll count on my sickness record. But I don’t see how I’ll be able to go to work like this.

Sorry for the rant :(

I sympathise. I’m 22 weeks and have felt really poorly since last Thursday and I’m still nowhere near better. Started feeling like a cold, then was sick out of nowhere on Friday and since then have had the same fluey feeling as you, exhausted and full of cold. I had my flu jab several months ago. The worst for me is the cough I’ve developed as it’s shown me just how wrecked my pelvic floor is Blush Paracetamol hasn’t really helped, and I’m finding it hard to rest which probably hasn’t helped at all. I’m sure it won’t harm baby, I can feel mine wriggling away as much as ever x

I’ve been the same.
Last week I Started as a sore throat then moved onto a cough with snot and mucus flying everywhere! I woke up sweating and shivering each night. Last night I was sweating so much, I though my waters had broken! The only place I’ve been comfortable was the bath! I’ve had at least three a day and most at 2/3am! Shock
I’ve been having paracetamol, honey and lemon and soothers which has been playing havoc with my gestational diabetes!
I think if I wasn’t pregnant I’d be able to shrug this off easily but at 38+5 I’m finding it really tough!
I was similar at 32 weeks and spoke to the midwife coz I was worried the baby would be harmed with how much coughing I was doing but she said if anything it would rock the baby and would effect her.
I hope u both feel better soon! It sucks when your pregnant and poorly!

Thanks both. Not at work today as I’m pretty much bedbound, my whole body aches :( hopefully it’ll pass quickly! X

You must must rest. You cannot push through things when you’re pregnant the way that you could previously. You won’t harm baby but you will prolong the illness. Proper bed rest, fluids, paracetamol, and get well soon Flowers
