Hi!

This is my first post here but ive been a long time lurker, i feel like i have no where else to turn so hoping someone here can help me :(

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes (GD) on Monday after getting 2 high readings on my home blood tests, i originally did well in my first glucose test at 28 weeks but at my most recent growth scan at 36 weeks baby was still measuring large around his tummy, i think above the 98th percentile! :O

At the GD appointment they said i dont need any medication and with good diet control i cant continue normally for the rest of my pregnancy

I then saw a doctor after my GD clinic appointment about a pain i was having (they were worried it was a UTI) and he seemed very concerned that no one had made any further appointments for me and said i need to be induced early to counter any risks with baby's big tummy!! I will add that he didnt seem bothered about my high results as the important ones were all well under the limit!

Because at this point i'd been in the hospital for 3 hours and the assessment unit had closed he said he would get someone to ring me in the next couple days to make an appointment with me to book in for either an induction or a c-section - no one ended up ringing me and when i finally rang the maternity unit they had no idea what i was talking about!! :dunno:

The person i spoke to said they would get a midwife to ring me back after reading the notes the doctor had written, i've just got off the phone to them and i just want to cry Sad

She basically told me to ignore what the doctor said and to wait for an appointment with a diabetes obstetrician who has the power to decide what happens with my pregnancy!! Why would the doctor say all these things and go through all the risks and why i need to have baby early if he didnt know what he was talking about? He spent a long time talking to me even though it was late in the evening about induction and i had a lot of confidence in what he was saying, and now the midwife has fobbed me off leaving me with all these questions, im so scarfed something could go wrong if they just leave me - i was under consultant lead care anyway before the diabetes diagnosis

Should i ring up my personal midwife to get some advice, will she even be able to help me? Im feeling so hopeless and scared as this is my first baby and i have no idea what im doing really! Confused

Thank you so much for reading through this, ive waffled too much but im just panicking a little bit :(
