Heart rate 126 at 13 weeks. Ok or too low?

I’m aware I’m probably just looking for things to worry about now but after having baby’s HB checked for the first time with a Doppler at 12+6 after slight bleeding yesterday, I’m now concerned that it’s a bit low. My daughters was always around 150. We had a very quick scan and baby was grabbing his/her toes too.

I think the average is 120-160 bpm?

Iswallowtoothpaste · 27/11/2018 21:42

That’s whats worrying me - just above average so early on when it’s usually a lot higher.

Did the midwife do the Doppler, or what did the HCP say ?

SlightDark · 27/11/2018 21:55

Ah I see scanned too.
I remeber your last thread, massive hugs for this far but if they weren’t worried try and relax - easier said than done !

The midwife did the Doppler. She didn’t seem concerned.

Thank you, I just feel like mine seems so low on comparison to everyone else’s. But then I’ve read stories where people have did that the HB was 130 then half an hour later I had gone up to 150. I’m having another scan on Tuesday so hopefully everything will be ok then. All looked fine yesterday.

Apparently boys’ heart rates are lower... at least that’s what my midwife told me...

Cheesenacho123 · 27/11/2018 22:51

Yep boys are lower usually 120-140/150. My son was always around 130 during pregnancy (only once in the whole 9 months did it go to 140). I wouldn’t be too concerned unless it drops below 120

Thetigerwhocameto · 28/11/2018 01:06

It also depends what they are up to! If baby was asleep the heart rate would be lower than if they are awake moving about. Having spent the best part of 4 weeks attached to a ctg I can assure you the heart rate can vary greatly (and they like to see ‘good variability’)

Iswallowtoothpaste · 28/11/2018 10:20

@Thetigerwhocameto thank you that’s very reassuring. To be fair she won’t have held the Doppler on my belly for a full minute and she did say that a/he must’ve been asleep as she wasn’t having to move the Doppler at all when she picked it up. When we went for a scan little one was waving it’s little arm around and grabbing their toes so I think I’m just finishing things to freak out about now!

At least I’ve got a scan on Tuesday!

The heart rate determining gender thing is a myth. My baby girl's heartbeat has never been above 135.

If your midwife wasn't concerned, I wouldn't worry. My baby's was about that at my 12 week scan. I'm now 25 weeks pregnant and my baby is absolutely fine and healthy Smile

Iswallowtoothpaste · 28/11/2018 10:27

@CaptainUnderpants96 that’s hugely reassuring! Thank you!

I listen to my babies heartbeat everyday, I'm 14 weeks and in the morning babies heartbeat is always a bit lower around 125-130, I check it later on in the day when we're both more awake and active and it can go up to 156!

So like previous post think it just depends what baby is up to in there. :)
