Bloody show - how long until labour?

Few days away from due date and I've had a bloody show this morning that's continued all day until the last hour, now just like a peachy coloured discharge. With DC1 similar happened and my contractions started around now. This time I've had nothing other than feeling some vague period pains, barely even any Braxton Hicks! I was expecting something to have started by now. Does the bloody show always mean that labour is imminent?

Nope.
Could be weeks (clearly not in your case because you're already close to the EDD).

Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later though.

@thatonehurt I thought that was more the case for losing your plug, but the bloody show meant things might be a bit closer. Ah well. We'll soon see I hope!

Yeah, it pretty much is. Just from my obviously extremely evidence based googling, I've read (and it's certainly happened to me) that your plug, which often looks more snot like, can be lost weeks before labour and regenerate. Whereas if there's blood in it, it's more of a sign that something is starting to happen. 🤞

It's always been the same thing for me, never one or the other.

Yeah, definitely one and the same for me. It was snot like and blood streaked and all came in one go.

This time it seems to be the same for me although last time it was different. Suppose it's different for everyone. It's started again, I'm getting EWCM with blood streaks in it.

It's all the same thing. Some people never have blood when they lose their plug, I didn't. It came in smaller pieces over time.

But could be hours, days or weeks. It really depends pregnancy to pregnancy.

I had my show on a Saturday and contractions started on the Sunday night..he was born on the Monday night... good luck! X

Unfortunately I think it’s just a guessing game. With DC2 I lost my plug (it was huge) with blood in it and she came a week later. With DC3 born last week I just had lots of mucous (no blood) and he arrived the next day.

Getting irregular but quite strong contractions now lasting over a minute every 5 to 10 minutes so I suppose it did mean something...
