Constantly feel like I'm doing something wrong during this pregnancy. The other day, I got a subway (Italian BMT) which contained salami, pepperoni and ham. It was toasted but not enough, I then get told on the NHS site that you shouldn't eat salami or pepperoni cold due to the risk of toxoplasmosis. I just feel like I can't do anything right at the moment Sad Sad everyday I'm worrying about something different and now this

Youll be fine i ate loads of smoked salmon which your not supposed to in the 2nd tri as it was my craving and everything was ok. Its the risk of food poisoning i think x

grace7 · 26/11/2018 17:14

I never knew that about salami! I craved it when pregnant and went through huge packs of German peppered salami.Blush Ds is now a gorgeous 6 month old. Don't worry too much.

Sunshinegirl82 · 26/11/2018 17:35

You're fine to eat smoked salmon and Mr Whippy ice cream. I think the only risk of Mr Whippy is if the machines aren't cleaned properly so might be best to avoid ice cream vans. McFlurry etc are fine though.

Smoked salmon is definitely fine. Although would count as a portion of oily fish.
Annoyingly I've totally gone off it this pregnancy. DH keeps buying it and every time I think "ooh" but as soon as I taste it I want to puke.

So odd what pregnancy does to the appetite!

There are so many myths about what pregnant women are advised to avoid, but the NHS has a definitive list. Personally if it's not on there then I ignore anyone who says otherwise.

I really wish people would stop passing on their half baked ideas about what they can and can't eat without actually researching it first. It just causes unnecessary anxiety. Smoked salmon is fine in itself, I had it for lunch today. Check the NHS website. I had salami yesterday without even thinking about it. There is no need to worry.

Bobfossil4 · 26/11/2018 22:17

It says in the nhs website that salami and pepperoni has a reduced risk of frozen first. I worked for subway for years and all the meat arrives frozen. So you’re ok!

Hi @Firsttimemum121 I had one of them the other day but I'm not worried about it! Some people smoke and drink during pregnancy so don't beat yourself up , your doing great! X

Firsttimemum121 · 29/11/2018 19:22

@winoa1 the thing is I did binge drink alot a day before I got 4 weeks pregnant and cannot get that out my head either. through out this pregnancy I've been very paranoid about everything I've done/doing

@Firsttimemum121 I really wouldn't beat yourself up about it, you didn't know you were pregnant. As long as you've been careful since you found out that's all you can do. I am a smoker but since the day I did the test I haven't had one.. I have a reassurance scan on sat so will let u no how I get on xx

bumblebee39 · 29/11/2018 19:29

Don't worry about it

You had a BMT from subway not a hit on a crack pipe

I know they like to make us paranoid in pregnancy but I've eaten most things your not allowed by accident in one of my three pregnancies (third now)

Don't sweat the small stuff!

Firsttimemum121 · 29/11/2018 19:30

@Winona1 yeah defo haven't drank a drop since. good luck I hope all goes perfect for you! Flowers x
