Hi everyone!

I’m 19 weeks pregnant and absolutely struggling with on-off cystitis. If I get one good day, I’ll have three rotten ones and it’s killing me!

I’ve cut out all fizzy drinks (I only drank sparkling water anyway), am wearing cotton underwear, been drinking litres of lemon barley every day and it’s still here!

I have a slight complication in that I’m on heparin, a blood thinner, so cranberry extract and juice is out for me, as they thin the blood too. Has anyone got a handy hint at all? I’m focusing on the positives, that I’m not having heartburn etc, but this is becoming really debilitating and as my urine samples are clear ofninfection, the doctor isn’t very interested in helping.

Any help would be utterly fantastic! Thanks everyone. X

Sitting in a bath and necking slightly warm water helped me

Get yourself some D-Mannose. It's the only thing that helped me.

Is there a nurse prescriber at your surgery? Or can you contact the midwife?

It does say if you have it frequently or are pregnant you should speak to your dr but maybe a midwife or nurse would be more sympathetic.

Thank you everyone! You're all marvellous!

I'm in for the 20-week scan next week so will bring it up at the hospital that it's recurring.

I had seen about D-mannose, so I'm definitely going to invest!

Another DMannose fan here - I've struggled with UTIs for decades and it has genuinely transformed my life. I don't understand why there isn't more awareness of it among GPS and why it isn't available on prescription.

@WobblyLondoner I am so excited to go into the city and grab some tomorrow. Thank god for forums like this where we can all share!

Another advocate of d mannose here! I recommend the Now Foods one, I always get mine from Amazon x

Another D-Mannose fan! I've been sat at work in tears before discovering these. Now I take one as soon as I feel the slightest hint of an infection and it sorts it out :)

Thank you all so so much! Sometimes I swear it's just having hope of a solution that helps! X

Two cautionary thoughts - do check what it says about taking D-Mannose when pregnant and bear in mind it will only work if your infection is caused by e-coli.

d Mannose worked for me! I did some thorough reading and was personally very happy to take a mannose
