Diagonally breech baby

Hi all

At almost 36 weeks baby is diagonally breech (which I believe is also called oblique breech?) so I’m just looking at options to get baby to turn and also options for birth assuming baby doesn’t turn.

Has anyone had a successful ECV with a diagonally breech baby, where baby has turned and then stayed head down for birth? What was the ECV experience like? I don’t mind a bit of discomfort but have read a lot of horror stories online.

Has anyone had a vaginal birth with a diagonally breech baby? I can’t get my head around how that would work physically but my hospital has a list of types of breech birth they won’t allow to be attempted vaginally and it isn’t on the list of excluded options. I’ll be asking the consultant about the possibility assuming baby remains breech at 36 week midwife appointment this week, but just interested in any experiences in the meantime.

Thanks

My dd was breech for the majority of my pregnancy (I could feel her head at my ribs!). My local hospital don't deliver breech babies they always refer for ELCC. They offered to try ECV and we have it a go.

It wasn't as painful as I expected, more uncomfortable. Dds bum was starting to engage so it didn't work for us but I'd try it again in the same situation. Dr was born by ELCC two weeks later. Happy we tried!
Good luck OP!

Is it your first baby? My 4th was oblique breech at 37w but turned in time by himself. 2nd was transverse at 38w and also turned so hopefully your baby might also move!

This will be baby number 2. First was head down and normal delivery.
