I found number of sleepsuits needed go down with age. They get them much dirtier when they are newborn plus I had DS in sleepsuits throughout the day then, whereas he was in other clothes during the day as he got older.

0-3 I had loads probably 11 or so.
6-9 was during summer so 3 long sleeved and 3 short sleeved
Now at 9-12 I only need 3 long sleeved.

3-6 somewhere in between.

I am also interested in this conversation, especially the difference between "newborn" and "0-3". How long is "newborn" clothing supposed to last for and how much should I get?

@Monipop84 there's no standardised measurements - each brand is different. Most brands will put an upper weight limit so its the case of checking the labels. My dd was 7lbs 11oz (so slightly heavier than average) but she was short and was in newborn baby grows and vests until she was 6 weeks old.

I have 16 newborn baby grows for my due very soon dc but I highly doubt I that i'd need that many, we received a lot of gifts of newborn baby grows with our dc1 hence the large collection. That said, it can depend on whether you have a baby who is sick/poo explosions a lot and your laundry situation (dc1 was a summer baby so it was very easy to dry clothes, dc2 is winter and we don't have a tumble drier so I'll probably need a few extra in comparison to what I had for dc1 this time).

When dc1 was 6 months old we received 15 baby grows for 6-9 months for xmas, we only used 6 of them.

@Monipop84 with my DS I bought several newborn sleep suits but he was nearly 9lb and very long and was only in them for about a week before they were too tight on his feet. Most newborn stuff only goes up to 9 or 10 pounds. Currently 30 weeks with DC2 and will go straight into 0-3 months (this one will probably be diddly though now I've said that!)

0-3 I would allow for at least 3-4 changes a day, but so depends how often you do laundry.
By 6-9 you probably only need one each night for sleeping, two if they are still in them in the day.

We had loads of 0-3 and up to 1 month brought for us before our son arrived and a few newborn (3 or 4!) he was 7lb5 and the first day home grandparents had to go out and buy more newborn and some small baby sizes ! He’s now 11 weeks and only just going into up to 1 month !! He’s 11lb2 now, he dropped to the 9th centile a few weeks ago so has not put as much weight on as the hv thought but I didn’t expect him to only just be in one month clothes - certain newborn sleepsuits still fit him too!

I’m 39 weeks and have bought mostly 0-3, got about 10 vests and 10 sleepsuits for now. Planning to send my partner over to Sainsbury’s if we need more in a hurry!

I have got a pack of each in newborn size as well but I’m measuring above the 90th centile so I’m keeping those in their packets - if the baby does turn out to be big enough for 0-3 then I can take them back and change them!

I haven’t bought anything bigger than 0-3 yet but we don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl anyway so would rather wait for now.

I had over 20 newborn / 0-3 month sleepsuits. He would be changed 3-4 times a day somedays. We used them all and had lots of wear out of them.
