Could I be pregnant?

Tuesday night my partner and I had sex whilst I was on my period (very heavy and only half way through). Due to this reason we decided not to use a condom as we thought it would be safe however Wednesday morning I woke up not bleeding at all.

I was working all day Thursday and Fri so didn't get a chance to take the morning after pill, very silly of me I know.

Could this possibly result in a pregnancy? I'm worried now...

You had unprotected sex so it's possible. Best to take a test in a week or so

Sexnotgender · 24/11/2018 16:33

Very unlikely.

IStandWithPosie · 24/11/2018 16:36

You think the sex feritilised and implanted an egg overnight and instantly stopped your period? Did you do biology in school?

Owletty · 24/11/2018 16:36

Extremely extremely unlikely - but not impossible

IStandWithPosie - why are you being so rude? If you don't have anything helpful to say then just don't say it.

That wasn’t rude. (Are you new on MN?) I am genuinely asking if you think that’s what has happened as you seem to believe so. Do you?

Sexnotgender · 24/11/2018 16:49

Istandwithposie’s advice was helpful though. It might have been phrased a little sharply but it’s entirely helpful and accurate.

Last Friday I found out I was pregnant (1-2weeks) using a clear blue test, I repeated 5 more tests to be sure and all came back positive. This afternoon I woke up feeling a bit un easy and went to the bathroom and saw that there was blood in my underwear. The blood was fresh looking like period blood with some clots in. Is this a possible sign of miscarriage? If so how do i confirm this for sure?

yankeexcandle · 24/11/2018 17:14

I apologise IStandWithPosie for taking your comment the wrong way.

I was just surprised, when we had sex I was bleeding extremely heavy and no where near the end of my period as I only came on Sunday.

We have had sex lots of times whilst on my period and this has never happened before.

A period is how your body gets rid of an egg that hasn’t been fertilised (by a sperm cell) and implanted in your uterus lining. If your period was very heavy and half way through it is extremely unlikely the egg was still in your uterus. Ovulation, which is when a new egg gets released from your ovary, doesn’t happen until round about 14 days after your period starts. So there will have been no egg there to be fertilised. It’s probably your period was just shorter than normal this month. Sometimes that happens with no obvious reason. To put your mind at ease you can take a pregnancy test in around ten days. But really it is so unlikely that you’re pregnant from the sex you had on Tuesday night.

Sex education in schools was hit and miss depending on where you went and what age you are. There are lots of women who don’t understand how reproductive biology works. It’s worth reading up on tbh. I think all women should know how their body works.

scoobydoo87 · 24/11/2018 17:31

It's unlikely but remember sperm can live for around 5 days so unless your periods are 7 days and you were on the first day it could result in pregnancy as people tend to ovulate the week after their period

Sexnotgender · 24/11/2018 17:31

Most women's cycles are 25/30 days with day one being the day you start your period. So you were on day 3/4 maybe.

You usually ovulate halfway through your cycle so around day 14, that is when you're most likely to get pregnant and a few days either side of it.

That's why it's very unlikely you would be pregnant.
