Hi ladies,

I feel like I have more aversions than I do cravings atm. Currently 9+3 with first baby.

The smell of baby wipes (particularly mamia from Aldi)... Yuck!
The smell of toast... Yuck!
The smell of coffee... Yuuuuuuck!
The smell of cigarettes... Yuuuuuuck!!!
The smell of the oven... Yuck!
The sight of my old ecig... Yuck!
The smell of my new herbal essences shampoo an conditioner... Yuck!
The sight of bread, ham, cheese, anything with breadcrumbs!

And now my partner and stepson, slightly lol! Am I weird or are these normal??
What are some of yours?

xx

I am so with you! I am 23 +5 now, but when I was at your stage I couldn't stand the smell of my partner's aftershave... or any aftershave smell for that matter!! I also couldn't stand the smell of strong drinks (more energy drinks or sweet drinks). It does ease up though!
Wishing you all the best!

gossipgirl28 · 24/11/2018 13:11

I have so many aversions! Currently 11+1 and have been signed off work for the last 3 weeks due to constant nausea and sickness.

I hate the smell of the downstairs of my house so I'm spending the majority of my time in the bedroom.

Can't stand meat

Hate hot drinks (I used to love coffee)

Hate sweet stuff

Hate the smell of my body wash and moisturizer

Can't cope with any food being cooked. I just gag constantly.

Can't wait to start feeling better! Xoxo

Thishatisnotmine · 24/11/2018 13:14

Vegetables. With both dds. I was fine with fruit juice but avoided veg in all forms for around 20 weeks.

Also car fumes. A problem when we lived next to one of the main roads into birmingham city centre.

SadieContrary · 24/11/2018 13:21

The sight of any minced meat made me gag when pregnant. I couldn't look at it at a. Totally back to normal now

cowchickenduckdog · 24/11/2018 15:39

For some reason some of my customers in my shop make me gag! Some because I can smell cigarettes, others due to perfumes but some because of just their smell! No one else can smell it but me though. I've turned into a bloody sniffer dog!! Weird I know!

Any fake smells in shampoo, washing up liquid etc; particularly the “Christmas scent” washing up liquid

EnglishIrishRose · 24/11/2018 15:48

All food in my first trimester lol. The smell of food cooking made me feel sick so I just ate cold food, potato and toast for 3 months!
Also I am a coffee addict but coffee is my biggest aversion. I still hate the smell of coffee and don't touch the stuff at 35 weeks.

Strokethefurrywall · 24/11/2018 15:54

If you want weird, with DS2 I had an aversion to Tupperware.
And a particular roundabout.

One day I put some leftover steak and mashed rutabaga in the Tupperware ready to eat it for leftovers.
Sure enough, I got home the next day, opened the fridge and as I looked at the Tupperware an inexplicable aversion came over me.
After 4 days of barfing every time I so much as looked at the tub, I had DH throw it away for me because I couldn't even take it out of the fridge.
Even when it was empty I puked whenever I looked at it. And the weird thing was that I was still eating steak and rutabaga!!

Evil little Tupperware fucker...

Pebblespony · 24/11/2018 15:57

I went off lasagne. Used to love it. My love never came back and dd is a year and a half. It's very sad.

Kissel · 24/11/2018 16:02

I had so many. All hot sauces (couldn’t even look at it), condiments, water, the colour red, multi-picture posts on Instagram switching to the second picture when I refreshed the page.

This lasted the full 40 weeks.

katie23913 · 24/11/2018 16:04

I'm and so glad this phase has passed for me. I couldn't stand the small of cigarettes and I am an ex smoker. There was a point where I couldn't even stand the smell of my own house, my partner, the hand wash in my bathroom and the smell of my car 🤮

I am still a bit sensitive to certain smells but nowhere near as bad now at 30 weeks. It's an awful stage of pregnancy!

CocoHoney · 24/11/2018 16:25

Yeah aftershave that's another one! So it does ease up then? I thought I'd be like this all the way through lol.

Yes! I’m 12+4 and my food aversions seem to be here to stay despite the sickness all but disappearing.

Cooking meals on a night is really hard. I’m usually a real foodie so it’s quite unusual for me to be off so many food groups and to loathe cooking meals. Everything makes me feel ‘yuck’ right now and I can’t say that there’s anything at all that I really fancy to eat or am really craving. Very odd!

Iswallowtoothpaste · 24/11/2018 16:28

@Strokethefurrywall 😂

CocoHoney · 24/11/2018 16:29

Same here! Used to drink coffee every day, and now I can't stand to look at it let alone smell it! Crazy xx

I've gone off meat completely... can't stomach any of the stuff and the smell makes me gag. At the rate I'm going I'm gonna be living on salad and fruit for another 6 months haha

ToBeARockAndNotToRoll · 24/11/2018 17:13

Yes, with DD, smell of coffee made me vom. All meat...raw, while cooking, cooked smelled 'off.' With DS it was homemade juice/smoothies!

masktaster · 24/11/2018 17:18

With DS...
Drinking squash
Cereal/Toast (I had pot noodles or crisps for breakfast for most of the first trimester. Healthy!)
Anything remotely spicy (and I love spicy food)
Chocolate(!!) and other sweet things

MrsMcW · 24/11/2018 17:51

Pesto. And eight months after DS's arrival, I still haven't started liking it again.

Blackglitter · 24/11/2018 18:40

When I was pregnant with DS it was the smell of the hob heating up and roast dinners. The boiling smell was awful. The smell of my perfume also, now I can’t wear it anymore

ThatOneHurt · 24/11/2018 18:51

I'm 36 weeks and have an aversion to people in general.

canonlydoblue · 24/11/2018 19:09

I'm 29 + 5 with my fifth - went off poached eggs and avocado right around week 8. Saw some avocados in the shop earlier and thought I was far enough along to be over my aversion so bought them. Turns out I still hate them, sad times! Had a massive aversion to my husband in the first trimester as well.......

HoustonBess · 24/11/2018 21:27

Couldn't face veg or spices. I'm a vegetarian who eats a lot of curry :( Back to normal now though.

It's annoying but maybe helpful to remember it's a natural defence mechanism to stop you eating anything iffy.

AllTakenSoRubbishUsername · 24/11/2018 22:01

A while back now but both pregnancies and I couldn't bear the smell of roast lamb (went off it for two years after the birth, too) and river water. At the same time as having cravings for peas with grated cheese on top. Crazy stuff!
