Went for a check up today and measure 32cms at 36 weeks. This is the same measurement as I was 3 weeks ago. MW didn't seem to think it was a problem. Has anyone else had this?

Feeling a bit glum after todays appt- for some reason I had convinced myself she'd tell me the head was engaged etc but it wasn't. She even had trouble telling me what way the baby was laying.

Just expected more and didn't get it. Know its stupid and its probably lack of sleep making me feel a bit pants today but just wanted to moan.
PPS (35+6) xx

Soory you're feeling glum PPS.

FWIW the measurements aren't very accurate it often changes depending on who measures. If it's more than a certain amount different than they can send you for a scan, so I'm sure your mw would have done that if she thought it was necessary.

My LO wasn't engaged at that point either.

*Sorry oops

Hey there, have just heard from a friend of mine measuring 27 weeks when she's 33weeks and have no experience or advice for either of you I'm afraid but wanted to keep an eye out for anyone else being knowledgeable on this.
Have you been referred for a scan or anything ?

Jackstini · 21/06/2007 16:00

My dd's head still wasn't engaged at 41 wks! Don't worry, baby will get in there when it needs to

Mumpbump · 21/06/2007 16:01

In my area, they have a rule of thumb that if you're more than 2cm behind your dates (iyswim) then they send you for a growth scan. That said, it meant a lot of hospital appointments and an induction at the end of which ds arrived weighing 7lb 1oz. I am 5'2" and weigh around 8.5 stone, so he was perfectly normal for me. Is this your first baby? If so, I imagine you'll have another appointment before D-day so ask her then at what point they will send you for a growth scan to check that the baby isn't suffering from Intra-Uterine Restricted Growth (I think) - IURG is the anacronym. But unlikely to be anything to worry about at this stage, in reality.

I had this recently as did another person from my antenatal group. I was 3cm behind and the measurement hadn't been going up much. Both of us got referred for scans (the standard here is that you are referred for scans if you are more than 2cm away from what they expect for your dates). Both of us had all our scan measurements at or above the 50th percentile. I'd been told by my mw that the baby would be max 6lb at birth. Scan said already 6lb 8 at 36 wks (but don't think either is accurate).

I don't think these measurements are that useful but why not ask about a scan if you are worried - at least if the mw says no she may explain why she doesn't think there is a problem.

Princesspowersparkle · 21/06/2007 16:31

Thanks girls. No doubt nothing to worry about. Everything else was fine and she didn't seem bothered about the measurement. I think I'll give her a call about it anyway and see what she says.
Thanks again- sorry for being a moany cow. I know there are people going through worse things.

exactly same happening to me

measuring small and midwife not referring me for growth scan - let me know what happens to you!!

Princesspowersparkle · 22/06/2007 10:05

Hi Bumbly, Not really sure what to do. My next MW appt is at 38+6 so will be pretty late for them to do anything about it. I think I might leave it, afterall, HB is good and its moving well.
It'll probably come out massive.....
