Hello just wanted some idea of what to expect. I was on holiday, consumed a lot of spirits in one night. Must have had about 12/15 drinks all with a strong spirits. Gin, vodka etc you name it. Some shots too... This was an exact day before my missed period. Will I have caused serious damage... Has anyone drank spirits as hard as I did that one night. Please give me your scenarios and how they turned out??? Fas is all I keep seeing. OF course haven't talked touched a drop since.

Don’t worry. You are absolutely fine. The baby doesn’t share your blood supply in the earlier weeks so no damage will have been done. Lots of people continue to drink before finding out that they are pregnant with no damage done (provided you stop once you find out which is what you have done!) x

Black0ut4 · 23/11/2018 20:34

I did Blush

I was 18 and spent a week staying with a friend getting hammered (spirits mostly)
Obvs not ideal by any stretch but I didn’t know either.
Ffwd 8 months I had a healthy baby who is now 25 and absolutely fine.
Please try not to worry, you can’t change it and beating yourself up now is the last thing you need although I did the same Flowers

Yes, a very boozy hen weekend at around 4/5 weeks. Sambuca, the works. DD1 is now a very healthy and bright 5 year old!

costacoffeecup · 23/11/2018 20:41

You're fine, happens all the time! Too early to do any damage.

ItsABoy123 · 23/11/2018 20:42

Thanks Brit I pray I'm one the lucky ones xx

Yes, I think it was- I remember realising I was late when I got back.
You’re going to be fine too.
bubblybrit makes a good point

coffeeforone · 23/11/2018 20:44

Yes! I drank a lot a few times at 4/5 weeks including shots etc (i had a few hen nights/30th birthdays over a 2 weeks). I wasn't TTC so didn't hold back - surprise baby is a perfectly healthy 2.5 year old now!

Doghorsechicken · 23/11/2018 20:44

I did it too, we were sailing & I got incredibly drunk on rum cocktails the week before I found out I was pregnant! He’s a healthy 6 month old now.

ItsABoy123 · 23/11/2018 20:56

Thank you blackout. I hope so. I'm reassured with others drunken ways too, I wasn't planning either so all has come as a massive surprise/worry!

You'll be fine. It's happened one hundred million gazillion times before. Please don't worry.

Novasglow · 23/11/2018 21:06

Won't have affected the baby, don't worry Thanks

ItsABoy123 · 23/11/2018 21:22

Thanks all. I've become a it obsessed with reading into things, like fasd etc. Just trying to forget about it now as it is so common

I think the main thing is stopping once you know you're pregnant. Well I did have a v small wine or swig of beer occasionly after.
I had two very boozy nights and smoked too (on those nights only) before I realised so around 4 or 5 weeks (realised at 8 weeks). I did have some other times where I had a pint or large wine. DD is nearly 9 and perfectly fine. I wouldn't advise getting missed when pregnant but in your case I wouldn't worry.

Vinorosso74 · 23/11/2018 21:31

Pissed not missed!

ItsABoy123 · 23/11/2018 21:45

Thank you just got to enjoy pregnancy now and move on as the stress is probably worse

I was the same. I went on holiday and had a few boozy nights out before I realised! There is literally a video of my rolling about drunk at a fair!! I did the same and panicked about the damage I had done but DD is completely fine. I know it's not exactly funny and I would never have done it if I had known, but DH and I were joking recently about it and listing how many different drinks I had had before realising! Pretty much everything! Don't give yourself a hard time, it happens to so many mums.

PBobs · 24/11/2018 02:45

Baby isn't sharing resources with you until around 10-14 weeks. You're totally safe. The baby still "feeds" from its yolk sac like a chick in an egg. It's an evolutionary stroke of genius. Your baby isn't sharing resources with you until you know you're pregnant (most of the time) and can make informed decisions.
