Is this normal? Could I just be earlier than 5 weeks like I think I am? Or is this doomed?

Incredibly early to see anything. Had very similar early scans with both miscarriages and my children.

That's what I was hoping. Thanks

I don't want to give false hope at all, but 5 weeks is incredibly early! At the 6 week mark (to the day), I had a scan and was told there was no fetal pole or heartbeat, that I would miscarry and that there was absolutely no chance this pregnancy would continue, all by a very unsympathetic and rude sonographer. Two weeks later had another scan, this time baby was fine and there was a heartbeat, and the sonographer looked at the previous scan photo and said she COULD see a fetal pole and had no clue why we were told there wasn't one. Several months down the line, still pregnant with a very healthy little one. There is hope, it's hard to have but people CAN and DO get it wrong. The best of luck to you and I really hope it all turns out okay!

I had a scan at 6 weeks and saw nothing other than a sac. Knew dates as IVF. Went back a week later and there was yolk sac, fetal pole, heartbeat etc. 5 weeks is very early days so I don't think it's uncommon to see nothing other than a sac. Try not to worry although I know it's hard. Flowers

Thanks both. Going back tomorrow to confirm if my HCG levels have raised, if they have we'll have a follow up scan in 10 days and if they haven't we'll go from there apparently. Hoping all is okay.
