Hi All,

I am pregnant with my first child and I really want to meet some other women going through the same things. I am the first of my friends to get pregnant and I don’t have a big family so limited experience with relatives pregnancies. I am only 12 weeks so it’s too early for antenatal classes and I want to meet people before that point.

I am due to join an NCT yoga group and I’d like to attend the swimming classes in my local area (when I’m not exhausted) but I was wondering if anyone else had other ideas?

I just joined my NCT yoga class. I’ve made some lovely friends there (joined at about 20 weeks).

You could have a look at the “antenatal clubs” board on here (also under the Becoming A Parent heading like Pregnancy) and join a thread of people with similar due dates to you :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

There's an app called Mush that you can download and meet other mums in your area.

What is your due date? There will be a group on the antenatal threads on here for women due in the same month as you and I’ve met some great RL friends though ones for my children.

@FirstTimerEH Hello! I'm 12 weeks too, there is a thread for babies due in June over on the ante natal board if you would like to join the discussion.

Congratulations! I'm in a similar position. I've been going to pregnancy yoga and a local pregnancy exercise class and have met lovely people through those.

I know you said it is a bit early but I've also done an NCT course which was by far the easiest way of getting to know people. I think meeting people gets so much easier the more pregnant you are - as people's focus begins to shift away from pre-pregnancy life and things start to get real. Hope all goes well for you!
