TMI - loose stools early pregnancy

Sorry for TMI in advance!!!
For the last couple of days I've had loose stools with a heavy feeling down below. This usually happens to me when I'm about to get my period - I'll become gassy and need the loo, and it feels exactly the same...
I've no bleeding or spotting or anything but it's left me feeling a bit panicky that something bad is going on as everything I've read seems to suggest that the opposite is more common.
I'm 5 + 6 today.
Any shared experiences / hand holding gratefully received! X

I've had this too. I often get looser stools around my period and also experienced it on and off in first trimester. I'm now 13+6 and had my scan on Monday where everything was fine.

I don't know if there is any truth to this theory, but in general I find that I tend towards loose stools rather than constipation if something out of the ordinary is happening in my body.

Having said that, a couple of time in the last few weeks I've also had more trouble with number twos so it's been a combination for me of different symptoms. I think both loose stools and constipation are common so try not to worry. Doesn't make it less horrid though.

Thanks so much, that is reassuring.
It's so weird, I just feel exactly as I do just before my period starts so I keep checking to see if I've bled - hard not to become neurotic!!!
Congratulations 😊

I'm 5+4 and have this too, think it's just the effect of all the hormones. It is worrying when symptoms feel similar to how you feel just before your period comes isn't it! I notice every twinge and cramp too, it's going to be a long 7 weeks until.the first scan!

TheCag · 22/11/2018 07:47

I pretty much have diarrhoea for the whole first trimester, then again for the last couple weeks before the birth. Sorry!

roobine · 22/11/2018 07:51

Thanks @moomin11 and @TheCag!
I've generally been feeling ok with the odd bit of cramping / pulling as I guess it's to be expected, it's just because it feels so similar...
Think I just needed to hear that I'm not the only one - your replies have deffo put my mind at ease!! X

I reckon you're fine, OP.

I was about the same as you and I had this almighty cramp and a really heavy feeling. I felt like I was going to come on at any second. I ran to the loo and was like 'right, that's it, I'm having a miscarriage, it's all over' and I was fine. 5 minutes later I was sitting in the garden eating a yogurt Grin

Don't worry about being paranoid and checking for blood when you go for a wee, I did that throughout my entire pregnancy. Normal.

I think it's just your body adjusting to its new resident. I think mine was like 'wtf is this? What's going on?' Grin

Thanks

Thanks @auberbene!
The first week I found out I was pregnant I was scared to cough or sneeze in case I dislodged the bean so guess things are improving slightly 😂😂

I worry every time I get a twinge, and then worry when I don't feel them. These first few weeks are an anxious time! Am hoping to be referred for an early scan as I had an ectopic last year, it's definitely made my worrying worse.

Same happened here for a few weeks, then it was over and the nausea came. I'd take the loose stools any day!
