Booked a private scan and I'll be 6+4 on the day. Am I likely to see a heartbeat?

plaidlife · 21/11/2018 16:56

I had an abdominal scan at 6+4 and we saw a heartbeat. You should be able to see one if your dates are right (but don't panic as it's quite common for dates not to be right!)

Hi I'm 5 weeks pregnant and started bleeding went to my doctors and was refferd to the EPAU the doctors took my blood tests and then came back at 91% Hcg 48hrs later only 115% then to 92 % had an internal scan and showed a miss shaped yolk sac that she said looked like was braking away. Obviously was devastated the doctors then said to come back in 2 weeks just in case they was wrong as they couldn't see anything in the yolk sac but as I'm only 5 weeks could just be very early, but said that's a very slim chance as my bloods was so low and I has been bleeding, I went hope and dealt with the fact I was having a failed pregnancy. 2 days after the bleeding has stopped blood tured brown then has completely stopped I haven't yet passes any tissue or blood clots and was told to expect to I have had no cramps at all just Gasy and constipated. Rang my midwife and she said fingers crossed that everything can be okay but surly not after everything hospital said?? Please help!

Thanks @Celebelly originally booked it for that date thinking I'd be 7+2 then figured out I'll actually be 6+4 and panicked they wouldn't see anything!

Saw a heartbeat at 6+1 (transvaginal scan). It’s not guaranteed at that stage though - a fair number of people on here don’t see a heartbeat that early but the pregnancy turns out ok.

Littlebelina · 21/11/2018 18:40

No, not until 7 weeks for me

badg3r · 21/11/2018 18:42

I did both times

Shmithecat · 21/11/2018 18:43

I did at 5+4 Smile

immummynoiam · 21/11/2018 18:44

Towards end of 6 weeks we did but it can be up to 8 weeks I think and causes a bit of panic if you don’t so it’s not a guarantee and nothing necessarily wrong. Some obs won’t scan pre 12 weeks in US as not much they can do

Birrdy · 21/11/2018 20:12

We did at 6+3

shamofamockery · 21/11/2018 20:15

I did, but only went due to several bleeds. To be honest they're not pleasant experiences at all, can you wait for your 12 week or do you have other reasons to want an early scan (completely understand either way!)

ladycarlotta · 21/11/2018 22:23

I did at 6+6, yes.

re @shamofamockery, I had a previous transvaginal ultrasound some years ago which was really horrible - compounded by the fact that it transpired I'd lost that baby - but the ones I've had this time round have been fine. The staff have been so kind and respectful, which they weren't with the first one, and it wasn't as uncomfortable as I remembered/feared. It definitely doesn't have to be an unpleasant experience, although I agree it's not the nicest.

rollerskaterdata · 21/11/2018 22:47

I did at 6+2 x

Leatherboundanddown · 21/11/2018 22:49

Yes. And from an external scan at 7wks

QueQue · 21/11/2018 23:25

I didn't at 6+5. Did at 7+5.
