Ice and Icy Water - most boring craving ever?

Through the whole pregnancy I've not been able to stop drinking ice cold water... I must go through about 3/4 litres a day... I also love eating ice. Try to limit it (worried about my back teeth!) to a couple times a day. My toilet roll bill has gone up astronomically hahahaha

Has anyone else had these (very boring!) cravings?

Craving ice is sometimes a symptom of iron deficient anaemia.

le42 · 20/11/2018 12:31

I think it's more the water than the ice... had my bloods done at the 28 week scan and I haven't been told iron is low so think I'm okay.

I wanted really cold things too. I lived on Calippos

It is said if you crave ice or drink lots of water it's a boy lol. Not sure how true this is but it was for me

le42 · 20/11/2018 14:37

hahaha @Exhaustedmummy1811 > well he is a boy so in this case, true!

Oh wow congratulations, I find out the sex of my baby tomorrow I'm so excited. Everyone I know who has had those cravings has also had a boy, strange isn't it?

I craved ice really badly with my first. I used to buy boxes and boxes of ice pops and eat umpteen a day. It had to be ice, not water. I knew my craving was bad when I had run out of ice pops and ice cubes one evening so started scraping the ice off the sides of the freezer!

Forgot to say I had a girl!

CaitlinsYellowSocks · 20/11/2018 14:58

I craved ice lollies in both my pregnancies (both boys) - was also anaemic so not sure if it was connected to that

doodles1234 · 20/11/2018 15:41

I love cold fizzy water, not fizzy drinks like coke or lemonade but just fizzy water and has to be cold and have gine through bottles and bottles daily - I like ice as well but mainly the water

Worieddd · 20/11/2018 15:45

I’m a big water drinker but have never had it icy until this pregnancy - I love love love an icy glass of water.

MonkeyToucher · 20/11/2018 15:59

In both my pregnancies I have needed all drinks to be absolutely freezing, the thought of a tepid glass of water or a hot drink makes me feel sick!

Interestingly this lasted the whole pregnancy last time and I had a boy. Second pregnancy it was really only for the first trimester and I’m having a girl so there might be something in it!

Lwmommy · 20/11/2018 16:03

I was an ice craver too and citrus the more sour the better. I would freeze fresh orange juice and crunch it. Nearly had a melt down when i went to the cinema and they hadnt turned on the slushee machine. I 'd been thinking of lemon slushees for so long and had to hold back the tears when they didnt have it.

Rumboogie · 20/11/2018 16:06

I craved ice during all pregnancies-stopped a few hours after I delivered.
I have 3 boys! Cracked my teeth.

le42 · 20/11/2018 16:09

Glad to see I’m not the only one!! I’ve had an awful pregnancy in terms of feeling terrible and then awful pelvic pain but all this water has done wonders for my skin!!

I craved ice in my last pregnancy! I was adamant that it wasn’t a craving and I would continue to eat ice after the baby was born because I just really liked it Grin. I had a girl
