I am 21+4 days preg with 2nd baby and scans are showing low levels of amniotic fluid. My scan today showed the fluid at 8cm and i am having another scan in two weeks time and an appointment with a consultant. Does anyone have any advice, i had chickenpox very early on in my pregnancy and have been worried sick ever since. Thanks

Sorry to hear about this, you must be worried sick.

I did a quick search and low amniotic fluid doesn't seem to be particularly mentioned in association with chicken pox syndrome; in fact, it's not until rather late in pregnancy that fetal chicken pox syndrome can be detected at all by ultrasound. And it's a rare condition even among those women exposed.

So It sounds like the cp is unlikely to be a factor.

Thanks Clop, i am worried but trying to get on with everyday life and just wait and see what will happen at next scan. If anyone else has any experience of low fluid levels i would be greatful to hear.

Chunkymonkey- I had low fluid levels in my fist pg.. my deepest pool was 1cm This was found at 28weeks...

i was kept in hospital and monitered daily, given dexamethasone steroids for babies lungs, had lower vaginal swaps twice a week, and bloods twice a week for infection and scanned twice a week. My dd was eventually born by c-section at 36weeks was a c-section due to lack of fluid and footling breech.. She was born a healthy 4lb 14oz small but as I said very very healthy..

Good luck hun.
