Hi,

I have my first Mid-wife appointment on 4th December (first Pregnancy) and i will be 10 weeks. Does anyone know how long after this app you normally wait for your first scan? I'm worried with it being Christmas I will end up having to wait and we want to start telling people, plus its getting hard to hide now with sickness etc (plus we are impatient :-) )

Thanks in advance xx

My midwife phones and books the scan at the booking in appt for as close to 12 weeks as possible.

NHS aims to undertake the scan around 12 weeks but as to when you will be given a date, it will depend on your trust. I've been with two different trusts, the first one notified me of my scan date before my booking appointment and the second I didn't know the scan date until I'd received the date for my booking appointment. Some trusts will book the scan at the booking appointment.

I would say you will have it before Xmas if not inbetween Xmas and new year. I have a 38 weeks scan on the 27th so they still do scans even tho it is xmas ..

I was 12 weeks exactly on Christmas Day with DD2 and had the scan on the 27th December.
