Sleep Problems at 12 weeks

Anyone got any advice on sleeping?

Generally I'm good with sleep but this week it's been a nightmare. DH snores like a trooper which I used to cope with using earplugs. I've weaned myself (before TTC) off those because I was getting tinnitus and also I didn't think it would be good to be dependent on them when we have a baby.

Now we have a white noise machine and usually with a combination of this and falling asleep first it isn't a problem. Now I'm pregnant I seem to take a lot longer to drop off. Not sure if this is normal pregnancy anxiety, hormones or what. Also I now have to get up in the night for a wee. I'm finding it impossible to fall asleep before DH and then his snoring starts to drive me insane!

He is tired as work is incredibly stressful so I feel bad waking him up too many times, but tonight I have barely slept at all and in general I am just so exhausted anyway.

Anybody any thoughts at all? I'd like to sort it out as I'm worried I won't sleep at all after birth when I'm listening out for baby but also hearing the snoring constantly.

I think it's pretty normal to be fair; I had real trouble at the beginning of pregnancy, mainly needing a wee every 5 minutes. It did ease slightly before starting again towards the end (I suffered from heart burn). Try and take naps in the day and look into starting an earlier bedtime routine (no tv/ phones etc).

Just look at it as pre-conditioning for when little one is here. DS is now 12 weeks, he wasn't a good sleeper and was waking every 2-3 hours, I'm just starting to get 6 hour stretches out of him and I feel like a new woman 😂 The first couple of weeks are really tough but once you start to feel more confident and get into a routine it gets better.

I used to love my sleep but I'm amazed now how little I can get by on and still feel ok/ function like a normal human being! There's times when I should be asleep but I just stay awake staring at him 😍

Congratulations!!
