So I'm bloody furious. I posted on here last week that I'd got serious back pain. Doctor confirmed I'd got a uti and gave me antibiotics and sent a sample off to the lab. Anyway I fined the doctors 5 days later to say I was still in pain and had my sample showed anything more and did I need to change antibiotics to which they told me oh no no further treatment needed. Well anyway another 4 days in from that in absolute agony crying in bed my other half fined out a ambulance they took me in and took me to maternity to find out that I've got e coli in my kidney...which is causing the pain now been prescribed new antibiotics and codeine. Have to wait until Tuesday to see if they start working and relieving the pain and if they don't I've got to go in and have treatment through IV.... I just want to be pain free now. Already uncomfortable at 25 weeks without this on top Sad sorry ladies just needed the rant

Oh god, that's horrible. And so frustrating that it wasn't picked up in the tests your GP ordered. I really hope they get your pain under control soon.

Yeah it's really annoyed me. Especially after spending 9 days in pain. Kind of glad I went to the hospital last night though and know exactly where I stand and what is causing it. Just hope the new treatment works x

It's such a good thing you did. It's well documented that women are chronically undiagnosed for all conditions, because doctors don't take our symptoms seriously. It makes me so mad that they know this, but don't try to change their thinking.

They can only test for specific things, so I can forgive them for not picking it up on the first round of tests. But once you'd told them you were still in pain, they should have looked into it again, not just fobbed to off.

Well that's the thing. The water sample that the doctors sent off when I first went their had the ecoli in it too. But when I foned then they said no further treatment needed. But midwife and doctor last night said that it was present in that sample and they should have changed my antibiotics. As the ones I was taking clearly were doing nothing to clear it up. And after being told by hospital last night that that kind of infection being left untreated can lead to sepsis I could have cried. Oh well at least it's being treated correctly now. Thanks for replying I just needed to rant out my frustration pregnant, hormonal and in pain isn't the best of combinations lol x
