Cervix ripping inside feeling

Almost 39 weeks, been having strong BH or maybe early labour pains a couple times a day. Now feels like a ripping - stabbing feeling in my cervix IYSWIM. Like peeling Velcro apart? Is my cervix dilatating? Is this the start of labour?

Do you mean these or does it feel like something else?

No that sounds more like a sudden sharp sort of pain, this is more like a slow stretching or tearing apart xx

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that generally you don't actually feel your cervix dilate. The contractions are the pain you get when you're dilating, there's not usually a sensation in the cervix. I'd call the midwife just to run it by them, better to be safe than sorry!
