Maternity clothes

I just wondered when people started wearing maternity clothes. With DS I have had a look at photos and was about 19 weeks. This is my second pregnancy and I feel like I could wear them now and I'm only 15 weeks. Is this normal?

I think it's about comfort!! If everything is feeling tight and icky, then wear them. I can't remember when I started exactly but probably around a similar time

Thanks for your reply Aussie. I'm a stone heavier this time so feeling a bit paranoid.

I first started wearing them at 20 weeks and this is my first. After I put them on I realised how tight feeling my normal clothes felt and wish I'd put them on sooner!

I started at 6 weeks because I was so bloated and couldn’t stand any pressure on my abdomen. The under bump trousers are an absolute lifesaver. Still only 9 weeks and still no regrets! I figure I’ll get a lot of use out of the clothes, at least.

I do feel a bit weird about it, because obviously I don’t have a bump yet - just fat and bloating. On the other hand, who cares? I feel more comfortable, and that’s what counts!

Also, I’m buying some stuff on eBay. I’m expecting it to be a bit hit and miss, but there’s plenty of cheap, appropriate-looking stuff on there.

I switched to high waisted jeans (non maternity) and got to about 24 weeks with them. I then had a pair of maternity trousers and maternity jeans (hated the jeans). I did buy a maternity parka from Ebay because my jacket wouldn't zip up and it was December in the north of Scotland. I still wear it. Never bought any maternity tops or dresses.

I started wearing maternity dresses from about 14 weeks - they were comfy and I thought I might as well get the wear out of them! I didn’t go into maternity jeans until about 18 weeks as they were a bit too loose before that and I was constantly having to pull them up!

Do whatever is comfortable.

Ive been wearing maternity jeans since about 16 ish weeks I think, but am now 32 weeks and still not needed to wear anything else maternity. I’m not sure if that’s because I’ve got a short body so most of my normal tops are long enough on me to be able to cope with a protruding bump, or whether it’s because I favour more loose fitting tops anyway (probably both)

I got maternity jeans at 11 weeks Grin
My bloating was horrendous and never went away, it just turned into bump, and none of my clothes fitted me comfortably.
I'd already had people asking if I was pregnant for a fortnight by then 🙄

With my second it was pretty early, I wore scrubs for work and had to switch to maternity trousers quite quickly ! maybe even before 12 weeks, I had a proper bump at 14 weeks.
I'm 4 weeks pregnant with #3, have a feeling I'll be digging them back out even earlier this time !

I'm 25 weeks (and huge!) and not wearing any maternity clothes yet. I bought some maternity jeans but they were so uncomfortable I've not worn them. I've just been wearing high waisted elasticated trousers and stretchy tops, and size large tights with bodycon dresses. Oh and jumpsuits from new look have been a life saver!
