HCG Levels

Hi, has anyone any advice on hcg levels? I got my bfp on 5/11 then on 8/11, I started spotting which turned into quite heavy bleeding. Went up to epu and they took blood. Hcg came back at 58. Repeated them 48 hours later and they'd risen to 67. Repeated 48 hours later and they've rose to 79. Anyone else's rose so slowly and still had successful pregnancy. In bits at the minute as nearly every website tells me to prepare for the worst

Hi darling. I’m afraid the same thing happened to me and it didn’t end well.

I was in the same situation almost a year ago and I looked for any positive story I could find. I couldn’t fine one.

Turned out I had a blighted ovum but you do need to be seen by EPU to make sure it’s not ectopic as an ectopic pregancy will also give a slow rise in HCG levels and that will be the doctors main concern.

I am now 34 weeks pregnant and due around the same time that I got the bad news last year so there really is hope.

If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to ask. I became almost an expert on this whilst I went through mine x x x

Hi, Thankyou for your post. I'm preparing myself for the worst now. Still waiting for a phone call from epu to tell me what they're going to do next to see what's happening. Yes, there are the odd one or two posts that end well but, as you say, the majority don't. I'll just have to wait it out but heartbroken about it all x

I’m pleased your in touch with the EPU because I think the best thing to confirm ASAP is that it’s not ectopic.
I don’t want to scare you but it’s the reality and I was told the exact same thing.
How many days past ovulation are you?
Or how many weeks pregnant?
Sometimes I’ve heard that the HCG can rise slowly at first when it’s very early and then suddenly jump to doubling or more every 48 hours. Then it slows again as the pregnancy progresses.
The EPU told me that sometimes some babies can be slow starters.
I will keep everything crossed for you but do prepare yourself. And god forbid, if the worst happens, I want you to remember that there is Hope. Your not alone and I’m here if you need a chat about it x

No sorry, I did had one where they did rise quicker at around 6 weeks though, but I lost it at 11 weeks. Don't know if it was related or just twice bad luck?

Gothqueen · 17/11/2018 11:15

Thankyou. Epu never rang back so now have to wait until Monday 😡 no pain/bleeding of any sort. Spoke to a midwife friend of mine who just told me to keep on at epu to scan me to see what's happening and to just rest. Can't rest as in complete bits. OH is in bits cos we just wanted this so badly. I'll update when I know more xx

Didnt want to read and run, I have been there so please dont lose hope xx

Re: scan. Generally not much is visible until hcg is 1,000 (or thereabouts), which is why they're monitoring bloods and not scanning you...

I'm really sorry you're going through this.

Gothqueen · 19/11/2018 12:07

Thankyou. Just keep hoping the levels will rise quickly. Got another set of blood booked in for Friday and doing all I can in the meantime. Eating well, resting and keeping positive...x

They shouldn’t be waiting till Friday to do more bloods as it could be ectopic... I’ve had one x

Gothqueen · 27/11/2018 11:36

Bloods came back at 100 which means it rose 21 in 7 days. Booked in for a scan which I had this morning. Started bleeding at the weekend. No pain/clots. Scan showed nothing. Uterus, ovaries and tubes were clear. No sign of pregnancy whatsoever. Absolutely heartbroken. Consultant pulled me in and said he wanted to do another beta test and hopes the levels have lowered. If they have risen, it is still not viable and I'll have to have medical intervention. OH and I are in complete pieces.

I’m so sorry Hun.
That really is very low HCG.
I’m not surprised they can’t see anything on the scan. I hope they keep a close eye on you until they are definite about where the pregnancy is.
It is such a shit time. My whole experience went on until I was 13 weeks pregnant. They wanted to keep checking and checking juts incase because my levels were still rising but certainly not at a viable level. It was awful being left in limbo.
Don’t let them do the same to you.
X

Gothqueen · 27/11/2018 14:23

I've just got my results back from my beta and they've dropped to 33 so my body is sorting itself out which is a good thing i suppose. Thankyou for your support. Now to have some time with my amazing OH to put ourselves back together xx

MagicalCreatures · 27/11/2018 18:37

That’s the only thing you can hope for in this sort of situation. It’s the only good that can come out of the bad. Not having to have medical intervention. It’s the kindest way.
Take it easy. Be kind to yourselves and do not let it break you. X x x
