Anterior Placenta with 2nd Baby, when did you feel movements?

I had a 15 week check up scan yesterday (long boring story I won't go in to), and they told me the placenta is Anterior and I might not feel kicks for another 6/7 weeks which seems so long to wait.

Has anyone had an anterior placenta with their second baby and when did you feel kicks and movement? Xx

This is my second baby, anterior placenta and definitely feeling movement now at 21 weeks. I felt something from about 19 weeks, but less obviously the baby. I probably wouldn’t have known if it was my first.

I’ve had anterior placentas with both my pregnancies. Am currently 24 weeks and have been feeling definite kicks for a week or so. Fluttery feelings started around 20 weeks. The main thing I’m finding this time though is that the baby’s position affects how much I feel a lot! So for a couple of days I feel loads, then she moves behind the placenta and they are nowhere near as strong until she moves again...

Thank you both for replying. Was hoping you'd turn round and say 17/18 weeks with 2nd Baby but maybe wishful thinking Hey! Xx

17/18 weeks here with second baby and anterior placenta.

I'm nearly 18 weeks with an anterior placenta (third pregnancy, first was also anterior). I sometimes think I feel something - muscle twitch type sensations, esp low down. But I'm not totally confident that these are actual movements yet. Like you, I'm hoping it won't be quite as long as 21 weeks or so to wait! With my first I was definitely about that but hoping that subsequent pregnancies help you feel it sooner...

HollyBen · 16/11/2018 14:21

My first was anterior. I was about 21/22 weeks before I felt anything

rhuzzle89 · 16/11/2018 16:40

This is my first and can only comment on him but it was a bit later maybe 22 weeks - I thought I maybe felt some flutters but nothing definite beforehand, hopefully it'll be sooner for you as its your second!

Babyno2mamabear · 16/11/2018 17:16

Thanks everyone for your answers!! I'm hopeful that it might be slightly earlier. I'm way more anxious this time and was really looking forward to feeling kicks but never mind, will be worth the wait! Xx

I felt movement really early before 12 weeks but didn’t realise what it was as it’s my first.

nomorespaghetti · 16/11/2018 17:28

16/17 weeks with anterior placenta and second baby. It was 20 weeks with first baby (also anterior placenta).

CheesePleaseLoueese · 16/11/2018 17:31

Around 17/18 weeks too here - second baby and anterior. The feelings were flutters

JellySlice · 16/11/2018 17:44

My 2nd had an anterior placenta, and I didn't feel any movements until the anomaly scan at 21w. The movements never felt as strong as with dc1, and I didn't have the sticking out elbows and feet, either. Dc2's movements felt more like rolling and stretching, rather than dc1 and 3's kicks.

MadeInCornwallx3 · 16/11/2018 18:29

It's sounds weird but when I had my anterior placenta and was about 18 weeks I would
lie on my front so I could feel by uterus and wait.

Then I would feel very definite little pokes and prods it was amazing!

That was the first way I felt the baby and the only until about 20 weeks.

overagain · 16/11/2018 18:49

16 weeks. With my first (posterior placenta) it was 14 weeks. My sonographer said that it's usually easier for 2nd time mum's to identify the movement even with an anterior placenta.

1Wanda1 · 16/11/2018 20:26

I'm expecting my 3rd baby and have anterior placenta. I first felt bubbly sensations at 15 weeks. From then I would feel something about once a week - but I wouldn't have known it was baby if I hadn't felt those feelings in my previous 2 pregnancies.

By about 19 weeks I could feel more definite movements and they were every day.

Anterior placenta with my second here. Slight fluttering s about 20 weeks. Very definite kicks closer to 22 weeks but only feel them in my sides/at either hips

italianwifey · 17/11/2018 13:19

Just to say thank you for this thread as am finding it quite helpful to see...been told I have an anterior placenta and am 19 + 1 but not feeling any definite movements yet, was getting a bit worried even though I know they have told me it might be later. Does anyone know when you should speak to your midwife if you havent felt movement? Is it 24 weeks?

Lookingforadvice123 · 17/11/2018 15:55

This is my second, anterior placenta (posterior with my first). I felt movement early on, similar to my first pregnancy, 16ish weeks. Its been very different though and I've definitely felt it much less often, at 26+3 I'm feeling much more and stronger, but it's mainly when I lie down in bed. I do feel it throughout the day but nowhere near as much as I did with my first baby at this stage.
