I’ve made a few threads already so apologies for that - however. I had a sweep on Wednesday and was 2cm, cervix quite soft but posterior. Had some pains and a bloody show Wednesday night. I woke up feeling very wet and went in Thursday morning to check if it was amniotic fluid (they said it wasn’t) the midwife examined me and said I’m still 2cm, cervix very soft now and also ‘central’ or towards the front?? I felt sick and achy yesterday so napped on the sofa then was having really bad back pain for around 8 hours last night with Braxton Hicks/contractions ?? Every 4-6 minutes. They were hurting low in my belly and around my back and legs. I eventually had to lie down because I felt so sick, and when I woke up this morning I’m having just sore contractions again but nothing terrible.
So my question is how can I speed things up?? I was in slow labour for 2 days previously but this seems worse. This is my third day of physically not being able to eat, diarrhoea, stomach pains and nausea. I’m not really getting any sleep. They’ve booked me for another sweep tomorrow morning, but I’m absolutely dreading having another ‘quiet’ boring day today then having pains again all tonight! When I was in labour with my first it was stop start and eventually went into full blown labour when my waters broke and baby was born 3 hours later!!! I suppose I am anxious because I want to get to the hospital on time. I also forgot to say on the ctg monitor yesterday I was having tightenings but they weren’t regular. At what point will they intervene? I’m not able to do anything, even eating and sleeping are impossible. Will they break my waters at some point for me? They said they were very low and ‘could’ be broken they were so close. Any tips please.. I’m miserable Sad

How are you doing OP?

JellycatElfie · 20/11/2018 14:00

Thank you for asking!
Much the same really. Just waiting on the midwife calling me back to arrange another sweep. Sad
I’ve had irregular contractions for days now.. I’m so tired of it all!!

Sorry things haven’t progressed Jelly.

Research shows that nipple stimulation can induce labour, perhaps have a nice relaxing bath later and try that, and aim to do it at least 3/4 times a day.

I think the problem may have been that you’ve had the stretch and sweep too early, it’s not recommended to be done until at least 40 weeks unless there’s extreme circumstances, or a risk to the woman or baby. I realise that you were in slow labour previously and have been having some niggles this time around however each pregnancy is different and backache unfortunately is normal for some women.

Hopefully with a bit of nipple stimulation things will get going more.

Never mind! My sweep is actually tomorrow not today. I’m still quite sure I’ll go into labour fairly soon but yes I probably did have my first sweep a bit too early. The dr did say my cervix was favourable though. I can’t get in the bath Shock I wish I could though! And the thought of anyone touching my boobs makes me want to punch someone haha!!!

Oh,OP I totally feel you Flowers
I keep my fingers crossed that soon you will have cuddles with your baby.
If you fancy a bath then go for it,your waters are still intact.
Good luck.

JellycatElfie · 20/11/2018 18:03

Thank you! Flowers I’m taking it as a good sign that my cervix is already soft and thin and I’m getting irregular contractions before my due date - I really want to avoid being induced so as long as he comes around his due date give or take a few days I’ll be happy (ish!) haha!!

Still no baby or established labour!!!

I had a sweep today and have been having contractions which are starting to get sore, but nothing I can’t handle. However the midwife said the baby is soo low in my pelvis she can’t even feel his neck when she palpated my tummy. Which explains why I can’t walk!!! I’m honestly in agony when I stand or move. Turning in bed sends daggers up my bits Blush

You must be exhausted!! How much longer will they let this go on for? Hope your toddler is feeling better as well.

Sexnotgender · 21/11/2018 20:39

Hope you're not too shattered!

This is one of the many reasons I don't like sweeps, I wish they'd just leave well enough alone.

cindersrella · 22/11/2018 22:22

I'm hoping your not waiting to much longer. Your baby must love been in mommy's tummy

JellycatElfie · 23/11/2018 11:54
