Hi everyone. Just feel like I want to get this off my chest and talk to someone. So basically my periods are normally spot on time cd 28-29. Anyhow I am late by 17 days now resulting on cd 45. I have done a lot of pregnancy test which have all come back negative. I went to the doctors today to see what’s up with my body and why my period hasn’t come but he was useless. He just said you need to keep testing every week until AF arrives. No bloods or even a pregnancy test from him. I have awful lower back ache and cramps but when I feel like AF is arriving it isn’t. I am also very tired.
Has this ever happened to anyone else and turned out pregnant? I’m really worried in case I have something wrong with me :(

Thank you x

Hi I was in the same situation as you, I had took numerous tests and all came back negative. My arrived 3 weeks late, but my doctor wouldn't do anything either until 2 missed periods x

Thanks for replying mummsy2018. That's put me at ease a little. I kinda just wish I would know either I am pregnant or wise AF would make an appearance. I guess it's just a waiting game for me then ..

Late ovulation or anovulation. Pretty normal... (several threads a day on this issue leads me to believe that).

If your periods continue being irregular with unusually long cycles, it can be an endocrine issue eg hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). This was the case for me. You could consider getting your thyroid checked if continues to be an issue

Thanks for all your replies. Another day and no AF. I have really bad cramps mainly in my left side and still a dull lower back ache. But I guess it's just a waiting game for me and then back to the doctors if it continues.

Doctors tend not to care at all until you've missed your second (or third) period. This is because it's super common!! It's probably an anovulatory cycle, as I suggested before. It's not the doctor's fault that it's super common and only very rarely a sign of any issue at all. Even if you've missed a second period, they tend to not 'find' anything wrong at all. I say this not to make you feel bad or anything, but to hopefully make you worry a bit less about this.

Most women aren't aware of this because so many are (or were for a long time) on birth control which regulates cycles.

The most they will do is give you norethisterone or provera which will cause a breakthrough bleed after the course. Sometimes this resets your cycle. The reason they didn't do a pregnancy test is because home tests are so accurate now. Most women never have their pregnancy 'confirmed' by their doc/ midwife until their 12 week scan.

It's frustrating, I know, but there just isn't much that you or anyone can do... but wait.

Have you mentioned the back pain? Is it tender to the touch around your kidneys? Possible kidney infection? Which could cause an anovulatory cycle.

Yes I think I just need to relax and chill out but that's just me I worry about everything. It's just not like me to ever go this long of a cycle. Only time I missed my period was when I was obviously pregnant with my daughter. Other than that my periods have been spot on.
Yes i have backache still and I did mention it to the doctor. No it doesn't hurt if I touch it though it's just like a dull ache.

I was 18days late before a positive test with my second...
Assuming I ovulated late ... although didn't think I was ovulating at the time. Dodgy month for me
