Hi, I really need some solutions here. Im 10 weeks pregnant and came down with a cold and a cough last weekend. The cough is really bad, it's a dry cough that is so bad im struggling to eat or sleep. I rang the nurse a two days ago and she said all I can do is put honey and lemon in tea. This ishould only giving me temporary relief, last night I was out of bed every 2-3 hours making a fresh cup to try and get relief. I've just been to the doctor and he gave me a prescription for 2 cough bottles. He said they can be taken in moderation when pregnant but to check with the pharmacist. The pharmacist was baffled and said no I could not have either, all I could get was honey and lemon strepsils. Does anyone know anything that could help me?

Not much advice unfortunately but loads of sympathy. I am currently 19+4 and have exactly the same we are now on day 8 of said cold. I'm sleeping on enough pillows to be almost sitting, have bought a cold mist humidifier, drinking around 16 pints of water a day and constantly sucking on hard boiled sweets. I've also tried vix on my feet but as a severe asthmatic I'm really struggling with this cold. I haven't slept more than 2 hours since it started, hope you find some relief soon

That would be fab if someone has some, I've spent hours googling but there really isn't very much. The cool mist humidifier helps a little and you can get them for around £15 I originally got it for my dd so it's a pink Teddy and quite small but it is fab. I sometimes sit in the garden in my dressing gown and slippers before I go to bed which sometimes helps

Try some vicks in a bowl with hot water. Drape a towel over your head and stick your head over the bowl. The combination of steam and Vicks should help clear your cough/cold.

Make sure to stay hydrated. Orange juice is great for vitamins if you can stomach it at the moment :)

I had a horrible dry tickly cough early in pregnancy. My pharmacist gave me honey and lemon linctus as that is safe to take. A glycerin only formula is safe for pregnant women to take and it says so on the label. Boots do a blackcurrant one that specifies it is safe www.boots.com/boots-glycerin-and-blackcurrant-linctus-200ml-10006468
