I went for a sweep yesterday and my cervix is closed, so she couldn’t do it. I’ve had no Braxton Hicks or other signs that labour might be imminent. I’m staring monitoring at the hospital tomorrow, although a date has not been booked in for an induction.

I feel v strange! Disheartened, yet afraid of what’s the come and i’m v tired.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

It's rubbish waiting. I'm only in my 2nd trimester with this one but went to 40+13 with my first (forcibly evicted in the end) so I sympathise. Hope things kick off for you soon.

Do you want to be induced? If you do I would start making a fuss now.

I went two weeks over with my last. Sweeps and pessaries didn't work so was induced.

Have they said anything about inducing you yet? I’m 40+3 and midwife said yesterday they’d be looking to induce once I’m 40+12 although I know I can decline this if I want to. I was offered a sweep yesterday but declined, will have one next week if still no movement.

Just wanted to say, don't be disheartened!! I was in exactly the same position as you this time last week... I'm now typing this as I feed my 5-day-old baby boy! He arrived on Sunday at 40+13 completely of his own accord, after a really lovely, quick water birth. I really, really struggled with being so "overdue" - I'd refused induction so started 48-hour monitoring, and had been told on Saturday afternoon that baby was thriving but nothing was happening. I think I was most depressed by the fact I agreed with this assessment....I'd had absolutely NO signs of labour (BHs/show etc. ). My daughter was born at 41 weeks but I'd felt things happening from a good 5 days beforehand.

This may sound odd, but I think a change in my mindset really helped shift things in the end. I'd been really upset and stressed by it all, and on Friday night had a complete meltdown - my toddler daughter was up all night and DH and I had a horrible row. Nasty, but so cathartic - we'd all been stressed out for too long! We had a lovely Saturday together and I went to bed happy and calm, just accepting things would be okay. I woke up in labour 3 hours later!

So, remember your baby will come. And that no signs doesn't necessarily mean no imminent labour! Be kind to yourself and trust your body. Good luck!
