Red blood at 23 weeks

Just wiped and saw a tiny amount of bright red blood on the tissue - I'm sure its coming from the vagina rather than anywhere else. Feeling fine otherwise and baby is kicking away. Anyone had this before? I'm really freaking out.

I called maternity assessment and they just said to monitor it.

I'm under the preterm surveillance clinic because of previous LLETZ but my cervix length was fine when they last checked it two weeks ago.

I had some at 25 or 26 weeks in my first pregnancy. Red but also a small amount.

They told me to go in and I had to stay overnight for observation, had a a few scans and checks etc. No cause ever found but it was all fine for me. A friend had similar at a similar time and had a small placental abduction, also all fine though obviously stressful at the time.

Definitely try not to panic, but I also wouldn’t take any chances with bleeding. If they’re aware of your situation and happy for you to monitor it then that sounds like they’re not too worried. Did they say at what point you should go in?

Thanks lambdroid. I’ve not had any more but have gone in to get checked out, midwife has been very reassuring but just waiting for a doctor to do a speculum examination....

Midwife said it might be a bit of bleeding from the cervix triggered by a hard bowel movement (I was straining a bit earlier Sad) - anyone had this?

Hi had quite a nasty red bleedat 21 weeks. It was dripping out of me first thing in the morning when I went to the toilet.
I had been constipated for a few days but that morning had managed to go no problems.
I reckon I had just burst a blood vessel from the pressure.
They said it was either that or a burst vessel from the placenta but baby was absolutely fine.
I’m 34 weeks now.
Funnily enough I had another little bleed this morning too but nothing like before.
I’ve had them throughout my pregancy every so many weeks.
As long as your not rhesus negative then there isnt really a lot they can do at 23 weeks.
Just take it easy. X

Definitely possibly...I had this 4 days ago (32 weeks). Strained really hard on the loo and about an hour later, had a sudden gush of fluid with streaks of red blood on the tissue :(. Rushed to hospital because I thought my waters broke but after lots of tests it turned out to be a false alarm.

If they do a speculum test then there's a good chance you may bleed afterwards as well. I started bleeding the evening of the next day, pink spotting alternating with bright red that was definitely coming from vagina (not piles). Really upsetting but it tapered off after 24hrs and everything has been normal since.

Try to up your fiber/Lactulose/water intake to avoid constipation. I've been borderline managing it for the past few months but now take it very seriously after that scare.

Yeah had it like 4 times now and the first time was 20something weeks.
I dont even bother going in anymore.

They say it's an ectopic cervix.

As long as my baby is happy then I'm happy!

Always get speak to a professional though, don't just take strangers words off the internet as gospel.

Oh I totally missed your second post.

All of my bleeds were triggered by a bowel movement (bloody iron tablets!).
