FTM, 38 weeks and have been trying to do perineal massage but can’t really get it. Asked DP for help but he was horrified. So I bought myself an Aniball (like an epi-no) and tried it today. Couldn’t get it inserted at all so now having a bit of a stress that I’m gonna get ripped in two when I give birth. Has anyone else struggled to insert these things but eventually managed? I’m only a petite person in all dimensions really so am panicking about tearing, particularly since my mother decided to tell me last week what a terrible tear she had with me (cheers Mum!) and obviously every other person I speak to seems keen to tell me a similar horror story at the mo cos that’s what people do when you resemble a human beach ball Confused

Hey guys, that's a brilliant thread even if it's a couple of years old. I've been really struggling with insertion since I first tried Aniball a few days ago and was just reading all the comments for some tips and inspiration. I've tried a few of the mentioned ideas already but I feel like I must be doing it in the wrong position: what would you say is the best position and what definitely hasn't worked out (for those who have somehow managed)?!
