Just wanted someone's opinion i took 2 pregnancy tests a few weeks ago which came back positive but last night did one which came back with a second line but it was clear and had no colour to it do we think I'm pregnant or not? Im a new member so can't upload a pic or i would. Also I'm about a week late on my period and haven't been using contraception. Thanks in advance :)

I would say 2 positive tests and a late period would mean that you are.

TheSubtleKnifeAndFork · 13/11/2018 14:14

I'm a little bit confused about the timeline, sorry.

You took two positive pregnancy tests "a few weeks ago" but your period is only about week late? So have you had a period since the two positive tests?

SoyDora · 13/11/2018 14:17

Also confused about the timeline.
If the line was clear with no colour, what did it look like?

JadeyJade1 · 13/11/2018 14:47

No I've not had a period since and it's like a line with no colour sorry idk how to describe it

Do you have other symptoms which made you test before your missed period?

JadeyJade1 · 13/11/2018 15:03

Just stomach cramps pains in my sides and one other symptom which is a bit tmi lol

So you had two positive pregnancy tests quite a while before your period was due? And then when you period was a week late the inconclusive test? That's still confusing. Are you sure of your cycles/dates? When was your last period?

Without more info, off the top of my head...

  1. Possibly the most recent test was faulty.
  2. Or I'm thinking that possibly you're more pregnant than a test can pick up now, hence the weird test (once the pregnancy hormones reach a certain level the tests can't detect is anymore - I think it's called the Hook Effect).

Were the positive tests you took a few weeks ago very strong positives? Do you have another test you can take (in case the most recent was simply faulty). I'd probably start there...

JadeyJade1 · 13/11/2018 15:29

Yes they were strong no i have no more and i used to be regular but recently had the implant removed so i go by those dates

Defo pregnant hun get a clear blue one to say the words on it if you need piece of mind I did and I am 7 weeks Smile

JadeyJade1 · 13/11/2018 16:16

You think so?

OP posts:
TinyMarie · 13/11/2018 16:19

Why do you think you aren't? You're unlikely to get one false positive, let alone 2!

JadeyJade1 · 13/11/2018 16:23

I dont know just because I've not had a period since implant removal and that's normal

TheSubtleKnifeAndFork · 13/11/2018 16:50

I think if you got strong positives a few weeks ago then you are probably pregnant and now have too much hormone in your blood stream for the test to pick up.

I'd do another test, and if it comes back the same as the most recent one (no colour in the line) then I'd try another but dilute your wee with some water and test again. If the hormone level is too high then diluting it should reduce it to a level where the test can pick it up.

JadeyJade1 · 13/11/2018 16:55

I didn't even know there was such a thing as too much hcg 🙈 thank you will do this

This is a myth. You get positive tests throughout pregnancy.

JadeyJade1 · 13/11/2018 18:19

Not sure what to think now then lol

Just take another test OP and go from there. No one on this thread can categorically tell you if you are pregnant or not, but if you have had two strong positive tests and no bleeding or signs of miscarriage since, then you probably are.

This explains the Hook Effect in basic terms though: www.avawomen.com/avaworld/false-negative-pregnancy-test/

JadeyJade1 · 14/11/2018 18:06

Took another test which came back positive so still unsure it was a pretty clear positive as well

OP posts:
TinyMarie · 14/11/2018 18:26

What are you unsure of?

SoyDora · 14/11/2018 18:28

Why unsure? No period and 3 positive tests?

JadeyJade1 · 14/11/2018 18:47

The period thing is the bit that confuses me most because I had my implant out a few months ago so I've been told it's normal to not get a period

OP posts:
SoyDora · 14/11/2018 18:50

But you’ve had positive pregnancy tests?

JadeyJade1 · 14/11/2018 18:59

Yeah I have but as said above I've took the tests out of the plastic (out of habit) but only after seeing two lines so I don't think I am x

OP posts:
TinyMarie · 14/11/2018 19:02

How would taking the tests out after a positive result make a difference?

JadeyJade1 · 14/11/2018 19:05

I'm not sure
