How common is mmc really? Terrified!?

Can anyone tell me how common missed miscarriage is? I've had a scan and they told me I'm about 5 weeks, have seen the yolk sac and I'm having symptoms that are coming and going.... but I'm terrified about mmc? Is it actually something that happens regularly? I'm so so scared :(

Not meant to be that common but I know a lot of people who have had one unfortunately, I had one in my first pregnancy but everything was fine with my second.

Did they see a heartbeat, OP?

There's about a 20% chance of miscarriage in a healthy, averagely aged woman, which drops to 5% if a heartbeat has been seen on a scan.

Sadly, I was one of the 1-in-100 people who have recurrent miscarriages as I had 3 before I had dd1. But I went on to have no probs to have dd2.

I had one myself with my first pregnancy. I'm now 23 weeks with my second pregnancy and all is well.

They're supposed to be quite uncommon (I read somewhere that about 1 in 100 pregnancies end in a MMC). I personally know one other person who has had one. They seem overrepresented on this website as people often turn to forums for support/advice, but I don't think they're actually THAT common.

I didn't get any symptoms until I was past 6 weeks in both pregnancies so I wouldn't worry about that

I had 2 breezy pregnancies then a MMC...I saw the HB @ 8 weeks and by 12 week scan HB had stopped around 9 weeks.

I'm now 12 weeks, the anxiety I feel/have felt this time is immense...

I sadly have had 5 miscarriages, three before my son and two after so I'm very very nervous....

It was too early for a heartbeat as they could only see a tiny white dot next to the yolk sac, so I've got another booked for 2 weeks time, I'm just terrified as I've only ever had a scan with my son so I feel so attached to this baby, I feel like I don't know how I'd cope losing another one... especially after seeing a scan (even though there was nothing to do ) you just fall in love straight away don't you :(
