Food cravings, anything to do with sex of baby?

Just curious as to what everybody's cravings were when they were pregnant.

I've read a few times about salty food cravings being linked with boy and sweet things for a girl, is there any truth to this?

All through this pregnancy I've craved salty foods and pickled onion 😍

Interested to hear your experiences!

Craved pickled onions like crazy in my last pregnancy, was a boy!

clouise2018 · 11/11/2018 15:27

Ahhh, I’ve heard a few people say the same thing. Can’t wait to find out what I’m having, I’m currently 14 weeks Grin

I craved chocolate hob nobs and had 3 boys. (All at the same time!) Smile

Squiff70 · 11/11/2018 15:38

I spent the first nine weeks craving savoury foods and now my cravings are starting to turn SLIGHTLY more sweet although I'm stilll hooked on the same savoury foods.

I'm nearly 11 weeks but expecting twins. Won't know whether they're boys/girls/one of each until 22nd December but I have an inkling they're both boys.

clouise2018 · 11/11/2018 15:44

I’ve only occasionally craved something sweet, which is weird for me because I had a sweet tooth before pregnancy then it fully stopped. Congratulations on your twins ❤️

Oh wow! It’s so interesting to hear different stories. Congratulations on your boys ❤️

Sweet for my girl and savoury for my boys so the old wives tale was correct for me.

This pregnancy all I want is pineapple and orange juice but don’t know the sex yet

applecatchers36 · 11/11/2018 15:58

Had the opposite. Pickled onion / salty for my girl. Magnum ice cream during pregnancy with my boy Confused

scatterbrainedlass · 11/11/2018 16:01

I couldn't eat chocolate cake in the early stages of pregnancy and craved boiled eggs and cheese sandwiches. It was a boy. With my daughter I ate chocolate every day!

Baby160P · 11/11/2018 17:35

Boy here and craved gravy at the start.

Now 2nd trimester and I want chocolate!

LittleDoveLove · 11/11/2018 17:51

Mine change a lot, I am a savoury person and have had loads of savoury cravings but I've also eaten enough chocolate oranges, ice cream, twirls and lemon and white choc chip muffins to sink a ship! We're having a boy.

TinyMarie · 11/11/2018 18:06

I'm usually a savoury person but have been craving a lot of sweet and am having a girl.

HalfBloodPrincess · 11/11/2018 19:06

Now I want a chocolate orange 😭😭

userabcname · 11/11/2018 19:37

Hmm was going to say it's all rubbish but saw the pickled onion comment - interestingly, monster munch picked onion flavour was the only thing I could eat and not throw up for the first 17 weeks of my pregnancy and I had a boy! Definitely craved sweeter stuff once the sickness abated though.

MemoryOfSleep · 11/11/2018 20:00

Roast chicken. Was a girl. Also lots of sweet things, but that's typical for me, sadly. Cake

thismeansnothing · 11/11/2018 22:15

DC1 - salt and vinegar crisps, salty mcdonalds fries, bacon. Copius amounts of smoked bacon. I had a girl.

DC2 - cornflakes with ice cold milk and sugar. Carrots. Toast with salted butter and honey. Also a girl

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 11/11/2018 22:44

Dc1 - pickled eggs. In the end our local fish and chip shop gave dh the jar as an early baby present. Had a boy.

Dc2 - haribo. Had a girl.

Sharon1983 · 11/11/2018 22:49

Hi

Just had my first baby... a girl 😍
Although i didnt have any cravings as i had severe sickness throughout to 6 months, i didnt like anything sweet. This is strange for me as i love desserts and sweets

MonkeyToucher · 12/11/2018 09:26

This was totally true for me - pregnancy 1 I went massively off sweet things which is very unusual for me and had a boy. Pregnant with a girl this time and I’m craving chocolate constantly!

OutPinked · 12/11/2018 09:34

They say savoury for a boy and sweet for a girl but honestly, I’ve only ever craved savoury. I went through a brief spell of craving Belgian buns with DS2 so that rubbished the theory straight away Grin but my biggest craving was ice, same with DD1. DD2 I craved cheese, again rubbishing the theory and DS1 I craved McDonald’s Blush.

clouise2018 · 21/12/2018 22:43

To update... I'm having a boy! 😊

Mine was picked onions and ice cream and at the start of my pregnancy it was fruit. Didn't know the sex of the baby and now I have a gorgeous 3 month boy xa

clouise2018 · 21/12/2018 23:02

@babyarz I've heard so many people crave picked onion and they've had a boy!!

It was definitely true in my case, at one point all I wanted to eat was pickled onion monster munch 🙈

I craved Dove soap bars with my first pregnancy and had a girl!

Peonyblush1 · 22/12/2018 00:27

I never really had any cravings, sometimes I just crave things like chocolate but then again that’s something I always craved.

  • I’m having a boy btw
