Hi this is my first baby, and ive had quite a difficult pregnancy so far. my mum and dad went off on holiday abroad for two weeks on saturday so they will be away during my 37-39 weeks this is my first pregnancy but there 5th grandchild .
do you think they are selfish going on holiday at my stage?
i had a midwife appointment yesterday and ended up in hospital having a scan because the mw thought my baby may of been breech, luckily baby is the right way round but i did find this a very stressful day,my mum and dad didnt even bother to call or txt to see how my appointment went even though i told them i was seeing mwife on monday am so they have no idea whats happened to me.
they didnt book this holiday until after i told them i was expecting and when the due date was so its not like they had to go now!
also neither of them work both retired so really can go anytime.they are not old though only early 60s and fit and well
i feel like there not there for me but dont know if im being unreasonable due to my hormones or something !!
im lucky because i have a fantastic dh who has been great the whole time
thank god for him xx
what do you guys think ?

Just discovered that this was the OP's first post on MN. Suspect her second post might be her last .

mustrunmore · 20/06/2007 22:53

There's no way this was a real AIBU anyway, surely csws?

wishingfourgotone · 21/06/2007 08:12

pregnantbabyelephant, You can cope without them for two weeks, have you still got lots to do?
Have you packed bags, got cot/crib in place, tidied/cleaned the house, been to visit friends, cooked an frozen meals for post birth!
Everyone goes through lonely stage at end of pregnancy! its just your hormones
you will need your mom after birth as about three days later as the hormone levels lower you will feel down.
Look after yourself do all the bits you wont have time for when baby here nails hair soaks in bath.
Good luck keep busy but dont over do it and two weeks will fly by.

iliketosleep · 12/08/2007 15:20

lol i just came across this one too and its quite funny the response everyone got

when i had my ds 4 years ago my parents went on holiday 3 days after he was born, bearing in mind i was single, couldnt drive, lived about 3 miles away from any other friends and family and was stuck on my own for a whole week with 2 dds and a new born!! It would have been nice for a little bit of help off someone but meh shit happens and i coped!!

luckily now pg with 4th and have moved closer to my friends and family i can now drive and also got my lovely dp back

hayley2u · 12/08/2007 17:32

i do understand. i still rely quite on my mum and dad, not so much to do anything just to be there for me. my partner is working away on other side of country and only come home at weekends. so i'm more scared of him not getting there.
i am due to have c sction but still panicks me in case i go nto labour and he does not get back in time.

mixedmama · 13/08/2007 11:32

I suppose it is maybe a little unreasonable. Having said that when i was pregnant with DS1 I stopped my mum going to Devon for 3 days to her sister when I was 37 weeks, so what do I know.

Have read on another thread that she had her baby is 6 weeks old now so she must have had her baby whilst they were away bless her!

mixedmama · 13/08/2007 11:48

Wow - I only read original post and now read all the others including OP calling everyone TWATS - charming.

LadyTophamHatt · 13/08/2007 11:59

YABU, but its your hormones.

you've proved it by throwing a tantrum because noone agreed with you.

TigerFeet · 13/08/2007 12:41

Bloody hell! This thread has taken a bit of a turn, hasn't it??

fwiw, OP, I think you need to expand on why you feel they should be around. Are you particularly close to your paretns, share everything etc etc? If so then maybe you are a little justified in feeling put out. Otherwise, it's your pregnancy and I don't think you should expect everyone to put their lives on hold.

[miserable twat]

Alfie72 · 13/08/2007 12:55

I reckon you will appreciate having your parents around after the big event.

You'll probably want to have some quiet time and rest up to and after the little one pops out.

Think you need to give them and yourself a bit of a break.

meandmyflyingmachine · 13/08/2007 13:56

No, if she had it 6 weeks early (34 weeks) then her parents would have been there - they were going away for weeks 37-39.

mum2sam · 13/08/2007 14:01

I think it depends on the type of relationship you have with your parents. Im peed off with my dad and stepmum for booking a holiday on mine and ds birthday when dh is working away during that time for 5mths so wont be there either and not through choice. I wanted to have a special tea party for ds seeing as his daddies away with close family i.e my parents. They know dh is away then and they are both retired so can go away whenever they wish i.e the week before or after but no......Its his 3rd birthday so i really wish they would make the effort im not so bothered about my own.
