Slipped down the stairs

I’m 9 weeks pregnant and have just slipped on the stairs Sad

I landed on my lower back with a right thud - slipped about 4 steps. Now I’m obviously very worried.

What should I do? Will baby be ok?

Do you have a number for a midwife that you could call?

Iswallowtoothpaste · 10/11/2018 11:39

Your baby is pretty well protected in there but I can completely understand your worry and concern.

Definitely give your MW a ring and explain what’s happened x

I slipped down the stairs when I was 5 months and fell heavily. I monitored baby's movements and apart from a very sore tail bone for the rest of my pregnancy all was well.
I realise at 9 weeks you can't feel movements yet so contact the midwife if you are worried.

If you're rhesus negative they may give you an anti D injection, Im O negative and fell flat on my stomach early on. I had a jab in the leg and they made sure everything was fine x

I fell down stairs when 7 weeks pregnant. Thudded my lower back and had cramping. Phoned midwife and was seen at epu for a scan. Baby was absolutely fine. They said that baby is well cushioned in early stages so likely all would be fine but they scanned me to reassure me rather than need.
If you are worried just phone, I’m sure they will give you a check to put your mind at ease. X

Baby is so well protected, please don’t worry. A similar thing happened to me, in fact my dog pulled me down some steps outside when I was nine weeks, I had whiplash. Went to the doctor and he wasn’t concerned at all. Try not to stress x

This happened to me at 14 weeks and I landed on my lower back and went down the whole flight of stairs. It was horrible and very scary. I went up to A and E which is what they advised on 111 but when I got there they wouldn’t arrange a scan of the baby and just kept telling me I should go home and come back if I started bleeding. I basically refused to leave until someone had scanned the baby and she was there wriggling away absolutely fine! My back was knackered though! Now 29 weeks. Baby should be fine, the doctors said it was good it happened so early on as baby has so much protection at that stage. Hope you’re ok now and recovered from the shock xx

Was also 9 weeks when I done a Del Boy (only fools and horses) and went arse over head down the stairs.my c section pain was a doddle compared to falling down the stairs 9 weeks pregnant but baby was completely protected.

Baby160P · 11/11/2018 17:20

Baby is more protected than you realise. I was in a bad car accident at 12 weeks and bubbas still going strong at 25 weeks!

I'm still injured though!

Hello all, sorry didn’t come back and update. Well I had back pain all evening so DH booked a private scan for me today. Perfect little baby kicking it’s little leg around. Plus she put me forward to 10 weeks so pleased about that.

Thanks for all the advice - from now on I will be taking the stairs at snails pace 🙄
