Clearblue should only say 3+ weeks. Go to your GP so you can be referred to the early pregnancy unit. I don’t think you should stop taking any prescribed medication until your doctor tells you to. And congratulations!

TokenGinger · 09/11/2018 23:17

Are you sure it says 8 weeks? The maximum the digital tests say is 3+ weeks as far as I'm aware.

RLOU30 · 09/11/2018 23:17

Clear blue doesn’t say 8 weeks it only goes up to 3+

Redshoeblueshoe · 09/11/2018 23:21

Please don't stop taking meds until you have seen your Dr.
And when I got pregnant I wasn't trying, so I did drink then, but stopped when I found out, with no ill effects x

User123779 · 09/11/2018 23:26

Yes sorry. It did say 3+ weeks but calculating time and last period it must be bout 8 weeks . My periods have been 1month -1.5 months apart but it’s been over 2 months now . Sorry heads a mess so I’m just stressing it is that far but it’s a deffo positive . Took a cheap one . Positive and then the clear blue . Might be less than 2 months but still?!!?!! It must do some damage

Hey, this does happen a lot and you won’t be the first or the last. Most pregnancies are unplanned and by the time you have a missed period you’re 4 weeks plus so please do your best not to worry. A higher proportion of women are drinking socially for weeks before they realise they are pregnant. Those that come to difficulty are those drinking pretty harmful levels.
Citalopram actually has a good safety profile in early pregnancy, so don’t worry about that - your doctor may decide to try and taper off but please don’t stop suddenly.
It’s really good that you’re smoking an e-cigarette not normal cigarettes. They have no tar, no carbon monoxide, and much lower amounts of other chemicals. Current evidence is that they are very safe.
Hugs, and I hope your doctor is available early next week - do try and get an urgent / same day appointment as it will be so stressful if you are worrying x

I found out I was pregnant at 8 weeks and was very worried as had also had several drinks on a few occasions and a few cigarettes prior to finding out. I have a happy bright 18 month old now!

As pp have said absolutely DO NOT stop taking your citalopram cold turkey. I was on it, trough GP and consultant advice in my last pregnancy and for various reasons decided to stop cold turkey the minute I found out in my second pregnancy. It led to a extended mental breakdown for me and the first trimester was hell, I was unable to care for my toddler or dog. Just don’t go there!!
As pp have said you and your gp may decide to reduce it carefully if that’s what you want but please don’t go cold turkey - I wouldn’t wish that on anyone!
Best of luck and congratulations babies have been through so much worse Smile

OP don't panic, but start taking folic acid straight away. I am sure everything will be fine!
